When can players come to Campus and start practicing or having access to the facilities so they work on their games on campus? I know official practices start late.

I think they try to get them here in time for summer school. I'll find out for certain.

I think most go home for may and then come back in June to start workouts.

Any word on accepting the offer? Would be great to get this kid locked up, would take the sting out of probably losing Queta.

I just watched his tape. Based on a whole 3 compelling minutes, I want him badly. I think he'd be a tremendous player for us.

I can say that I’m more excited about this signing than I was last year when Queta signed, and I was plenty excited about that one.

I’m not saying that he’s going to be Queta’s equal, but at this stage of his USU career, I have higher expectations than I did at the same point with Queta (who far exceeded anything I imagined). Maybe part of my current enthusiasm is based on elevated expectations from Smith’s apparent recruiting and coaching abilities, which were still just speculation for me a year ago.

I wish Queta the best and hope he can be selected in the first round. On the other hand, I would love to see these two on the court at the same time next season.

point guard

Post by dogie » May 10th, 2019, 11:11 am

Does anyone know if Sedrick Hammonds is still in the market, or who the Aggies are looking at as a point guard recruit?

Doesn't appear he has signed anywhere. However I don't believe we have any open spots currently. So maybe the staff is thinking that someone on the team can back up Abel? Maybe Brito and Sam and the new signee out of australia will get some time there?

Anyone else notice how fast this kid is growing? The tweets somebody posted announcing him committing to the JUCO listed him as 6'11". Then in the news about his visit he was 7'1". Now he's already up to 7'2"!

This echos my sentiment. He moves well, passes well and is athletic enough at 7'2" to come in and make an immediate impact. That plus all the faith I have in the coaching staff to coach big men up based on last year. Really excited about this one.

Love this signing. On tape he seems to have such a great motor for a big. Should be able to beat a lot of bigs down the floor with how fast he gets out and runs. But I think my favorite thing about him is that he is a true big man like Queta. He's not parked on the perimeter on offense and on defense he seems relentless in his defense and rebounding.

Great News! He looked great on film and even if he isn't that good, these are the guys you take chances on just like Queta. These were the kinda guys missing during the Stew years.

If Stall is around he will be the slowest big we have. Everyone else can get out and run.

I’m hearing we should expect an announcement about him or from him tomorrow...
How? He clearly has no Twitter presence.
What exactly are you mocking here? The fact that I pointed out he has been completely flying under the radar? The fact that basically every JC basketball recruit that goes high level D1 gets a ton of mentions and talk on Twitter but there's been no mention of this kid the past month or so in regards to his recruitment?
Here you go, guys. Hopefully, this answers some questions. Any questions or comments can be left on either here or the 247 board.

Really good stuff, aggies22. Awesome to hear he signed an LOI and will enroll in the summer. Looks like he could be a pretty good replacement for Queta. I doubt he'll have quite the defensive impact Queta had, but not many do . . . .

Redic was 7'0". Anthony DiLoreto was the previous record holder at 7'1".

He reminds me of Mason Plumlee that plays for the Nuggets.

Leo Cunningham grew during his stay with the Aggies...Fr. year 6’10”, So. year 6’11, Jr. 6’11”, and as a Sr, 7’0”.
He was not great, but pretty good.

Nevermind, just read the 13=13 thread.
There are so many things you can take away from this comment. I thought Ben Fakira was the slowest player we have.

Yikes! This tells me it has not been a good sign to join the over 7'-0" club at USU. Hopefully he can break the colossal failure of the 3 that came before him.

I ran into Stahl at Maverick when I was in Utah a couple weeks ago. He is lean and mean. Looks like he has trimmed down and muscled up. I wished him well with his rehab. Hope he stays healthy.
