Euro U20: Queta Watch
With the lack of BB news we might as well keep track of Queta at the Euro U20 B tournament.
Portugal played Slovakia and won 76 - 61.
Queta had 18 points, 14 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks.
You can watch the game on youtube. Sounds like coach Smith is there watching Queta play and hopefully looking for some future Aggies.

Re: Euro U20: Queta Watch
For those interested in a more detailed stat line for Queta.
22:09 Mins
18 Pts
8/10 shooting (8/9 FG and 0/1 3pt FG)
2/3 FT
14 Reb (3 OREB, 11 DREB)
0 Asst
4 PF
2 TO
1 STL
2 BLK
+24 +/-
30 EFF
I haven't watched the game but I'm guessing he sat some due to foul trouble considering he only played 22 minutes as compared to his fellow starters who played 26-33 minutes each. Boy, he was really productive and efficient if you break it down to a per minute basis. I do worry about him staying out of foul trouble though and hope he can improve in that area prior to the season.

Re: Euro U20: Queta Watch
In terms of competition where would this fall? Would it be compared to like Big Sky type of competition or a little higher up? I know these are the national teams under 20 teams, but am just not up to speed about what kind of competition level that is.

Is Queta playing in the World Cup next month for their national team? Good to see him playing well for their U2- team.

I don't think Portugal survived the qualifying rounds. They are not listed among the 32 teams.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑July 17th, 2019, 10:00 pmIs Queta playing in the World Cup next month for their national team? Good to see him playing well for their U2- team.

Re: Euro U20: Queta Watch
He started out slow, shooting around 40% and having a +/- in the negatives. Ended up with a great game. It seemed that just before half his teammates finally realized that there wasn't anyone big enough to keep him away from the basket and just started feeding it to him down low. With team-high assists, he was also good at kicking back out when it made for an easy basket.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑July 19th, 2019, 4:11 pm26-14-6. It did feel like the end of last game and the start of this game that he was playing kindof sluggish and lazy. The latter 2/3 of this game, though, he was great!

Re: Euro U20: Queta Watch
So this year's center shot 64.7% AND had 6 assists. That is remarkable because it severely discourages the double team (especially if the kick-out leads to baskets). Throw in a 4-4 FT game and I have hope that the Hack-a-Queta strategy loses its benefits. Add in 2 fouls in 40 minutes and you have a complete all-around game. Oh, and 1 steal to balance out 1 TO.
Glad he's going to be in Logan another year.

He was on the bench at the end of the game with his knee wrapped and had ice on it. Hopefully a good sign!

Re: Euro U20: Queta Watch
He looked happy afterward, I hope it was nothing serious.
watching it over and over, it didn't appear to twist or bend awkwardly - he just sort of landed and he went down. He definitely couldn't put any pressure on it as he was helped off the court.

Re: Euro U20: Queta Watch
Well Portugal won the tournament without Queta playing the final.
Queta made the tournament team. Portugal's point guard also made the all tourney team. He also was named the MVP.
Do we still need a point guard?
Also Queta's bandages looked to go up to his knee. Is it a calf injury? He was limping around with a one hand crutch.
Whatever it is he will be out for a while. Hopefully he'll be healthy for the start of the season.

He got down from the platform from the trophy ceremony by putting his left leg down first, that looked positive.

Betting its a hyper-extension. Will be tender for a while but he'll have an easy recovery. Probably ought to consider wearing knee braces or sleeves for his own protection.

Re: Euro U20: Queta Watch
He already wears knee sleeves, but they seem more for padding. He could borrow mine I use to play racquetball with, as I only wear one and they came in a two pack.AggiesForever wrote:Betting its a hyper-extension.
