What happened to Queta?
I'm seeing stuff on Twitter, but not enough to figure out what's going on. I take it he had an injury during the Euro U20 tournament? Anyone know the nature of the injury? How bad?

Re: What happened to Queta?
He went down in the 3rd quarter with it looked like a knee injury. Went up for a block and rebound and landed awkwardly with a Russian landing on top of him. It didn’t look good and I’ll be sick if he injured it seriously!

Re: What happened to Queta?
Does anyone have updates on the severity of his injury? I hope for Queta it is not something long term.

No updates, looked like a hyperextension, hope that’s all.

Re: What happened to Queta?
He was in street clothes with crutches and his knee / calf was all wrapped up.
Re: What happened to Queta?
Interestingly, it looks like it was mainly his calf that was wrapped, but not his knee.

Re: What happened to Queta?
Wrapped with a heavy looking bandage. No visible brace.

Hmmm, it’ll be ACL. Looks like we won’t have to worry about the draft next year.

Re: What happened to Queta?
I watched him on twitter dancing (actually "hobbling with style) in the background of the Euro Championship victory celebration by Portugal. Watching him move around and the fact he has nothing but a big ace bandage on his leg below the knee, I'm saying he hyper-extended it. He's walking with a cane, not a crutch, indicating that its tender, but no ligament damage. If there is, then his family should sue Portugal's medical staff for millions for allowing him out there without complete immobilization.
I think Neemias has dodged a bullet. Now give it some rest, then get home and get in the gym and work on those legs. His legs look like a 7-0 version of Chuckie Keeton's. "Flippy floppy."

Re: What happened to Queta?
I must have read it wrong. I thought reports were crutches with soft bracing over the knee and extending into the calf area. If you're right about the cane and ace bandage then that makes me more hopeful.AggiesForever wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2019, 7:52 amI watched him on twitter dancing (actually "hobbling with style) in the background of the Euro Championship victory celebration by Portugal. Re: What happened to Queta?
That looks like the wrap actually stops BELOW the knee, mostly wrapping the lower leg. Maybe a strained/torn gastrocnemius?

Re: What happened to Queta?
From the FWIW department, you absolutely can tear an MCL or ACL without knowing it. You can even continue to play basketball on it with a completely torn ACL. How do I know? I've done it. Let's hope it's something FAR less serious, but I wouldn't infer too much from a video of him "hobbling" rhythmically to the beat. It seems that the placement of the bandaging implies that it is NOT the knee, so that is likely a good thing . . . . Fingers crossed.

I can pretty much guarantee that it is not an Achilles rupture.Madmartigan wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2019, 1:58 pmAnything but a torn ACL or an achilles rupture, please basketball Gods.

Re: What happened to Queta?
I'm kind of feeling the same way. I'm guessing that the MRI has already been done and that the coaching staff knows the results. If the news was good I feel like they would have released something.

Re: What happened to Queta?
I've been very silent on this one so far because I don't want to fuel the fire of panic. I can tell you this. As of a couple of hours ago the coaching staff did NOT know the results of the MRI.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2019, 2:19 pmI'm kind of feeling the same way. Re: What happened to Queta?
Just from the video it did not appear that any of his joints bent awkwardly and he didnt ever clutch his knee or ankle which is usually the first reaction when something happens to them. He did sort of land on his toes on the leg that is injured as his body weight was moving forward which made me think it was a hyperextension. Could he have a strained or even torn a calf muscle?

Re: What happened to Queta?
That is a very interesting wrap job for a knee injury. I agree, looks like the calf is the concern.

Re: What happened to Queta?
I would expect to see a more significant brace and less smiling if a knee injury were suspected. Looks muscular to me, with all of my expertise in the field. Which is none.

Kinda cool that the unhappy Russian kid is wearing Vans. Or at least a close facsimile.

Re: What happened to Queta?
I watched / listened to the Portuguese broadcast of the final game and the announcers were constantly referring to Queta's knee injury, not leg or calf injury. For what it's worth. Not sure what's up with the calf wrap, or if there's more support under the shorts on the knee. I also will note that Neemy did in fact have two crutches or "canes" at the start of that game, but it looks like he reduced it to one by the end of the game. You can see it in the video I posted above.
