Why does ESPN show the Aggies at 1-0?

Post by dogie » November 11th, 2019, 10:19 am

I was interested in seeing how the MWC did in the first week of the basketball season (answer: pretty well) by looking at the standings in the ESPN app.

I found that it shows USU having a record of 1-0. It also has less than the complete records of other teams (e.g., SDSU, AFA).

The complete schedule and scores are all there. It’s just that it is missing one win from the record. It has been like that for several days, it appears that way on the website and the app, and it shows that record wherever records appear.

I expect that the new rankings later today on ESPN will also show USU having a 1-0 record.

ESPN seems to go out of their way to treat college basketball as a minor sport. I notice the lack of updates on ESPN too.

It shows us at 2-0. My question is how many games do we need to win before a single loss won't knock us out of the top 25?

I mean, depends who we lose to. If we lose to LSU or St Mary's, that's different than losing to North Carolina A&T.

espn doesn't cover the NCAA tourney so they don't care about college basketball at all. CBS covers college bball pretty decently.

Which is also why ESPN announcers spend 3/4 of the time talking about their CFP while the football game they are supposedly announcing takes place right behind them unannounced....
