How good is Fonso?!
That 2nd half he just absolutely dominated all those big athletic dudes for LSU. That was some amazing stuff to watch.

Fonzo could win newcomer of the year in the Mountain West. Him or Flynn from SDSU.

Re: How good is Fonso?!
He kept us in the game and was the only one playing confidently for the first 25 mins. He is the type of player we missed big time last year vs Washington, will be huge for us

Re: How good is Fonso?!
Agreed. He performed incredibly well under pressure. Where we saw Miller and Porter get frustrated and outplayed, he did the opposite. What a game for him.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2019, 7:36 pmHe kept us in the game and was the only one playing confidently for the first 25 mins. Fonso was amazing. He has softened the loss of Queta. He is a huge part of our success to date.

Re: How good is Fonso?!
OKAggie and I just had a convo about Fonz.
My point: Fonz needs to start NOW, or I will file my first official complaint with Craig Smith.
OKAggie's point: Fonz gets more minutes than Brock, gets more looks than he would if he was sharing time with the starting 5, and is being played perfectly by Craig Smith right now.
Thoughts?

Re: How good is Fonso?!
You always need that guy that come off the bench and keep caring the team when your other starters are taking a breather. It doesn’t mean they are not good enough to start, it’s just strategy. You want two good scorers alternating playing time so you don’t lose all your scoring. Granted, this team has lots of scoring abilities but you still want that dynamic. Right now, we have Brito and Anderson coming off the bench with great contributions. Our bench outscored theirs 36-4 tonight. That goes a long ways in game trends and runs. I would be fine though if one of those 2 started over Millersam tingey wrote:you are wrong and sadly okaggie is right. Starting doesn't matter. Look at Lou Williams in the NBA.918AGG wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2019, 7:57 pmOKAggie and I just had a convo about Fonz.

As long as he plays 28-30 mins a game, doesn't matter if it's off the bench or not

Re: How good is Fonso?!
The part of Fonso’s game I like best is that he isn’t afraid to bang down low. Not many threes we’ll do that. He can hit the three but didn’t settle for that much that you can’t love about him right now. He illustrates my main frustration with Miller. Miller needs to be more aggressive going to the basket, but is incapable and unwilling to do it. Anderson single handedly frees Merrill up do do his thing.
While we’re at it, when did Brito get to freaking athletic?

Re: How good is Fonso?!
Funny story. At one of the first football games, I think it was Stony Brook. I saw Queta walking around during halftime and told my 11 year old lets go get him a picture with Queta. My son asked Queta for a picture and he said sure-thing, just as I was about to take the picture of my son and Queta, Fonso was watching and said, "Do you want to be in the picture with your son and Queta, I'll take the picture for you". Of course I said yeah that would be great. Now i'm wondering if i should have taken the picture with Fonso. Good ball player great person. I'm definently a big fan of Fonso.

It is going to be great to have him and Queta playing together (if NQ ever gets healthy ). I think the two of them together will be deadly underneath.

Re: How good is Fonso?!
I'm not sure I'd say unwilling. I didn't see Brock being lazy out there today. He just kept getting beat by more athletic individuals. I mean, he didn't give up, he kept trying, and he kept getting outperformed by better players. I would love if he could be more aggressive and drive to the basket and battle in the paint on occasion. But, I think he knows he can't compete in there, so he does what he can. I've got nothing bad to say about his effort or willingness. He just doesn't have the same skill cap in those areas. That's my perception.dyedblue wrote: ↑November 22nd, 2019, 8:44 pmThe part of Fonso’s game I like best is that he isn’t afraid to bang down low. Not many threes we’ll do that. I’m not saying he’s lazy. I’m saying he is unwilling to drive or do anything but shoot threes. His effort is fine.

Re: How good is Fonso?!
The thing that I like about Anderson is that when he finishes at the rim, it isn’t a wimpy layup that ends up getting blocked. He dunks it most of the time and doesn’t give the defender a chance to affect the shot.
