With the season now starting 11/25 what are people's thoughts on will we just keep all existing games that were scheduled past 11/25 or are we just starting over from scratch? Also are planning on playing all 18 league games? I have not heard, but I am assuming the conference tournament and NCAA tournament were not pushed back.

Scheduling is definitely going to have some changes. If Myrtle Beach get's moved to new dates in Orlando then that could overlap other games we had scheduled which will cause them to have to get rescheduled or canceled. I'm sure we'll work with the same teams we have scheduled and see if we can fit them in on different dates but there will probably be some different opponents as well.

Interesting note - "There is also the potential of "crossover" games, where teams from different events could play against one another outside of their scheduled event or game." I wonder if there may be an opportunity for us to stay in the bubble and play another game or two against other teams? I know there are tons of moving pieces in all of this, but it would be great if we could get another non conference game or two out of this.

Just listen to the Aggie coaches show with Coach Smith this evening. I certainly love that man and can't wait for the season to start. He mentioned that they're planning on scheduling 27 games 9 out of conference and then the 18 conference games. They are having to cancel four games he says they're canceling the first two games that were originally scheduled and then the Davidson game. Out of the rest of the games they're still trying to determine which one would be canceled. He mentioned there still planning on playing the 3 in-state teams as well as the Saint Mary's games.

He also mentioned they're going to play in Orlando but didn't know if it would be a tournament format or if it would be just be three scheduled games and you know your opponent's upfront

So you did, and I missed it somehow. I agree with the teams you highlighted. Lots of quality teams will be there. Hopefully we can get an extra game or two out of it.

8 non-conference games
Opponents so far (NET ranking 3/12/20)
Home - BYU(#9), St. Mary’s (#31), Dixie State (new D1 team joining the WAC), UC Irvine (#114), Long Beach State (#306), New Orleans (#335)
Road- , Weber State (#273)
Neutral- 3 of these 7 teams (Charlotte (#176), Dayton (#3), Loyola (Chicago)(#98), Missouri(#84), TBD, Furman (#74), and Pitt(#109)), Mississippi State (#50)
*UCI and Long Beach State were suppose to be before the Myrtle Beach Invitational tournament games

Who else should we play next season?

My ideal scenario for our 8 non-cons would be:

Home: BYU, St. Mary's, UC Irvine (Sorry Dixie, New Orleans)
Road: Mississippi St. (was this a "neutral" game?)
Orlando Bubble: Pitt (Myrtle Beach), Missouri (Myrtle Beach), Duke, Kentucky (or some other top-25 quality P5 teams)

Personally, I was hoping 2 easy games for other players to get more minutes. Our strength is the fact that the whole team plays and develops.

in the coaches show last night coach Smith said that the first 2 games of the season were cacelled which I believe were UCI and LBSU. The Davidson was cancelled and they were needing to cancel one more. He was confident St Mary's and then all of the in state games would be played in addition to the 3 games in Orlando.

So that would leave us with three open slots?

1. BYU
2. Dixie
3. St. Marry's
3. Mississippi ST.
4. Myrtle 1
5. Myrtle 2
6. Myrtle Championship
7. Open
8. Open

I'd say cancel BYU and pick up a better game if they weren't already scheduled for an a**kicking in Logan this year.

As much as I want to beat BYU they are going to be good this year. They brought in a lot of good players to replace the ones they lost. It has been a long time since we have beat them.

Now you're just drinking the Salt Lake media cool-aid who love their BYU puff-pieces. We have the best player in the state by far. I know we're young, and many of our guys are untested (so is BYU), but I'll still take our roster over their's or Utah's any day of the week. We break the streak this year.

I am completely on board with you that I want to beat them, but I don't think it will be easy. We have a lot of unproven newcomers as well although our front court is stacked and will be really solid.

I haven't been following this thread too closely, so I don't know if this has been brought up elsewhere. But, it kinda sucks that we are going to be playing BYU and St. Mary's without our fans. Seems like we got the raw end on those deals.

For sure, i am not certain the amount of fans that will be allowed at those games. Similar to football I imagine the conference will give the school the final say about fans based on the local health regulations. I hope they will allow 20-30% for those games, but we shall see.
