Re: Temperature based pricing.
I asked if they'd pay us if it went below 0 and they said that the minimum price would be $1.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
As a season ticket holder, I am furious with this promotion. These are high interest, high demand games, and they are just cheapening the brand. With a top 25 team, the tickets should sell themselves at high prices. It is good to see some creativity!

Re: Temperature based pricing.
Hopefully it's not like this morning when it was in the upper 20's. That would be a bad promo to raise the ticket price for those games.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
The overnight low forecast for Sun, Dec 8th (i.e. the temperature early Monday morning, the 9th) is 21 degrees. This is a cute idea, but I don't think it's going to end up working well. At least not for the first game.

Ah, but they didn't specify Celsius or Fahrenheit (or Kelvin, for that matter)

Re: Temperature based pricing.
They must be confused with the time of year and were thinking of our January and February inversion temps of when it doesn't break 10 degrees all day for weeks on end. Tickets are going to be in the $20 to $30 range with this promo.
Also, we haven't had one of those really long-lasting and freezing inversions for a while in Logan. Thanks a lot, Global Warming. Seriously though thanks. I hated those winters.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
As they didn't specify, I'm going to assume that they mean the Romer scale.
Re: Temperature based pricing.
It doesn't specify which thermometer will be used, so it could be the weather station at Peter Sinks. That could provide some decent ticket prices.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
My weather app is showing low 20’s on the 9th. Not a great price for a low demand game.

Maybe they should move the target time to 3am.scotlandog wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 9:34 pmMy weather app is showing low 20’s on the 9th. Not a great price for a low demand game.

It won't be much, if any, colder. It might even be warmer.aggies22 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 10:03 pmMaybe they should move the target time to 3am.scotlandog wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 9:34 pmMy weather app is showing low 20’s on the 9th. Not a great price for a low demand game.

Yeah I think 8am is around the low temp each morning as sunrise is ~7:40am.BigBlueDart wrote:It won't be much, if any, colder. Re: Temperature based pricing.
Assuming no cold fronts or storm patterns, ambient temperature will be coldest shortly after sunrise as it takes a bit of time for the radiative heat to match then reverse the rate of cooling.scotlandog wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2019, 10:43 pmYeah I think 8am is around the low temp each morning as sunrise is ~7:40am.BigBlueDart wrote:It won't be much, if any, colder. Re: Temperature based pricing.
What an epic promotional fail. Just make tickets $5 and get people out to this game. Build the fan base by appealing to the casual fan, allow for families on a budget the opportunity to enjoy the Spectrum experience, and pack the place for low demand games. I hope whoever came up with this idea isn't a graduate of the Jon M Huntsman school of business because I have heard such great things about that college.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
If the temp is in the 20s or 30s then just make that the price for a two game ticket.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
The athletic department sure seems to insist on ensuring they charge higher ticket prices at the expense of empty stadiums and arenas.
I agree with the idea of just making any ticket in the worst section $5 and call it good.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
Temperature based pricing is a pretty good gimmick for golf courses when 18 and a cart is usually $40-50 and the low temp might cut that cost in half late in the season.
Not sure it works in this context. It is somewhat clever but this seems like a 5-10% discount at most. Do the high temp that day gets you 4 tickets or something instead.

I think it was a fun idea, but it may not pan out the way they had planned. Still happy they're trying new things.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
The pricing discount may fail but I'll give them credit for marketing the game. Prior to their promotion, I honestly didn't know these two games were on the schedule. Neither game shows up on my scores app.

I think it’s working great - people are paying attention and thinking about the game.... most of you already have tickets though.

It was 33 where I look for my Cache Valley weather update. Good promotion, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Maybe late December will be better.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
The spectrum is going to be empty tomorrow night. They should've just made $5 tickets for the game to try to get more people there and went into local high schools and offered up tickets in the corner of the student section because the student section isn't going to be very full either.

Re: Temperature based pricing.
It was a good attempt.
It will also be very easy for them to say "it didn't work out here's 5 dollar tickets anyway," and not lose any time of the actual promo they'd set up.
