Re: Recruiting
Aggies22, it seem Craig and company like to keep recruiting under their hat more than we all like. But, do you know who we are targeting whether, transfer, juco, or hs?

Re: Recruiting
While this is true and sometimes it can be difficult to know who we have REALLY contacted versus who we have not. I can say with certainty that a grad transfer guard is still very much the current focus.

Re: Recruiting
Wow that's a big loss for New Mexico. Tough times to be a college coach. Players come in wanting to play out of high school. Some transfer their freshmen year if they don't get the time they are entitled to get. Players want to test the draft waters, but that leaves the coaches and potential recruits in a lurch. Now players want to be grad transfers at an alarming rate. Seems like at best Div 1 basketball has turned into a higher level of juco ball with the same 2 year window.

Re: Recruiting
Logically, I would figure that we go after grad transfers. We have Bairstow, Anthony, Miller, Ashworth, Worster, and Bischoff that have another year after the next season. We need a bridge for those players that I mention to develop.

Ashcroft is probably home by now and wonder if Cade Potter may be home in time for fall semester.

I never saw anything that we went after him. I believe he has to sit out again and then has really only 1 year unless granted to play. I think he is from the Chicago area so maybe he needed to move closer to home for 1 season. The guys who have to sit out 1 year and then only have 1 year may not have a lot of demand because you have to hold a scholarship for 2 years for 1 year of production. At that point it is kind of just the math of scholarship numbers.

We were never interested in Kirk. We've already been holding a scholarship for four years with no production, we don't need to hold a second one.slcagg wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 5:27 amhipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 2:20 amYikes, even worseQuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 1:05 amUIC is illinois chicagohipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 30th, 2020, 11:42 pmSome guys just like California over Logan in the winter. Re: Recruiting
Jalen Tate update. I think he ends up at Cincinnati or Xavier but who knows. Again we’ve seen plenty that say they have interest from us and in the end we never contacted. But this kid would be good. All league defense multiple times and double digit scorer. Article has some good stuff. I think we could use him as a pg.

Offensive concerns are there (18% from 3 last season), but he averaged 2 steals per game. The defense of both Tate and Anthony would be great.aggies1 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 9:49 amJalen Tate would be my new #1 guy to go after. Plays both ends on the court and is well balanced. I don't think we have much of a chance here. His home is just a few hours away from Xavier & Cincinnati and his dad played for Cincinnati. His former coach is also at Cincinnati now. I read somewhere that Ohio State is also a potential option as well.aggies1 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 9:49 amJalen Tate would be my new #1 guy to go after. Not just ball handlers. Imagine the defensive problems a lineup with Anthony, Bairstow, Tate, Bean/Anderson, and Queta could cause. That 1-3-1 zone with that length would cause a lot of problems for a lot of teams.Madmartigan wrote: ↑March 31st, 2020, 8:49 amHe is also 6'6" and distributes well. One thing that concerns me is he shot 18.2% from beyond the arc. But, it shouldn't matter, because we got other guards who can hit the 3 ball like Brick Miller....whoops sorry for the typo. I thought Smith mentioned that with the new transfers rules all players would be imediately eligible without sitting out a year- He said that at the last coaches luncheon that we had in February
