We got a dude from Chipola once. He turned out pretty good. Looks like Nebraska is interested in him. Other notable teams are Fresno State and Middle TN State. From this video from a game this last season, he had a pretty good season last year as a freshman at Chipola JC. Dropped 19 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds in this highlight video. From what I saw, he is GREAT passer. I actually am starting to think we need a guy like this! Looked like a mini Jason Kidd.

Re: Recruiting
I'm not interested in a guy who can't make shots (we have enough of those). I'm not interested in guys that won't pass. I'm not interested in guys who pound the ball for 15 seconds while everyone watches.
I want guys who can handle, pass, make shots and like ball-sharing team basketball. I don't care how tall they are, or what "position" you guys want to call them. Just give me as many players with those skills as we can get. And please let some of them be nasty defenders.

Yes. I owe it to an early interest in being disinterested. I began young. I studied, practiced. I found many accomplished disinterested people and asked them to mentor me. None of them were interested - as expected.Yossarian wrote: ↑February 11th, 2020, 5:49 pmYou seem like an altogether disinterested person.brownjeans wrote: ↑February 11th, 2020, 5:36 pmI'm not interested in a guy who can't make shots (we have enough of those). It's an autodidactic mastery and I've worked at it for many years. I've given it as little interest as possible.

I must still be recovering from a busy final week of football recruiting. Haha! For some reason Marcus Saxon being from Chipola was the only one that stuck with me after all these years.

Man I loved me some Corwin Woodard. While we are in dream land, how good would this team be with a young Marcus Saxon at the point. Hell, I’d take him at the point at his current age.

Re: Recruiting
Why the heck haven't we offered this kid yet? He was the region player of the year and SLCC is the #5 ranked JUCO in the nation.
We really need a PG next season that is athletic and ready to play immediately, even moreso than we needed one this year. I'm just wondering why we haven't seen any official offers go out yet.

Re: Recruiting
Because this coaching staff doesn't really do "official" offers. What they do is scout a kid, recruit a kid, if our interest is high enough they'll invite a kid on an official visit and once the kid is here visiting, IF they decide he'll be a good fit, THAT'S when the official offer is made.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 5th, 2020, 9:30 amWhy the heck haven't we offered this kid yet? Re: Recruiting
And maybe that's the plan, I don't know. I've seen Marco play though and he struck more as someone who will be in the Sam Merrill type role next year. He's a scorer and a bigger body that could realistically play positions 1-4 if needed.AggiesForever wrote: ↑March 5th, 2020, 4:23 pmI thought that was what Marco Anthony was brought in here to do next year-- play point guard.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 5th, 2020, 9:30 amWe really need a PG next season that is athletic and ready to play immediately, even moreso than we needed one this year. As to avoid offending those who get upset at the term "point guard" I will refrain from that term for this. I'm saying that I feel this team still needs to add an athletic, quick, player who can dribble through defenses, facilitate the ball, and guard the shorter speedy players on other teams.
If you do start Anthony, you're basically looking at a starting line up of:
Marco Anthony
Brock Miller
Sean Bairstow
Justin Bean
Neemias Queta
Personally, I would much rather see a lineup with Anthony paired at the guard, with one of those quick facilitators that can handle the ball that I'm referencing, and then only starting one of Brock Miller/Sean Bairstow.

Coach Smith couldn't form a decent O-line to save his life. And the team's field goal percentage from 6.5 yards is below 40%... that's just untenable.

We were/are. However, in the last 48 to 72 hours, he has received offers from Mississippi and California and we all know how that story ends.
Re: Recruiting
The spring recruiting period is such a $hit show. You have so many players transferring and so many teams over reaching for recruits. The Antonio kid from UNLV is a perfect example. Was run out of UNLV because he couldn't make a shot, now he is being offered by Xavier. Just because Power 6 conferences have offered doesn't mean we won't get him. Hopefully our relationships are strong. By the way, the stats above are incorrect. He was averaging about 9 points per game.
Our guy, Talik Chavez is also being offered by everybody as well. I wonder who else we are looking at. It will be awhile before we get our recruits, maybe July with this (I can't express myself without swearing) virus going around.

I looked at the grad transfer market and there are quite a few young guys as well as grad transfers I would take.
Here is a guy that stood out to me.... Rich Kelly
https://q30tv.com/sports/quinnipiac-lea ... er-portal/
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... rich-kelly
There were a couple other small school guys but it looked like they were already recieving A TON of interest from big P5 schools. This guy Rich Kelly (From what I have read) just entered recently and may not have many offers yet. He also looks like a guy that would play for Utah State.

Rich Kelly

There were a couple other small school guys but it looked like they were already recieving A TON of interest from big P5 schools. This guy Rich Kelly (From what I have read) just entered recently and may not have many offers yet. He also looks like a guy that would play for Utah State.

Re: Recruiting
We have contacted Rich Kelly. We have NOT contacted that Murphy that was mentioned earlier in one of these recruiting threads.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑March 18th, 2020, 4:17 pmAny names 22???aggies22 wrote: ↑March 18th, 2020, 3:30 pmWe are currently leaning more toward the grad transfer market.bpd wrote: ↑March 18th, 2020, 2:43 pmThe spring recruiting period is such a $hit show. You have so many players transferring and so many teams over reaching for recruits. The Antonio kid from UNLV is a perfect example.
