They are vulnerable. Mr. POY Flynn is struggling mightily. Meanwhile the true POY is playing some of his best ball. I’m going to miss me some Sam Merrill.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
At first I thought SDSU for sure because we want them ranked as high as possible. But I’ve realized CSU is bordering another Q1 win for Usu if they can win this game. So I think CSU.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
If they could get up to top 75 then the Q3 home game would move up to Q2 as well. I don't think that there is anyway they move up 30 spots though.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:00 pmAt first I thought SDSU for sure because we want them ranked as high as possible. What is the better outcome for keeping UNLV on the other side of the bracket? I think that’s the right answer.

Need SDSU for seeding in tourney. If CSU wins them and/or Nevada could pass USU if Aggies stumble in NM.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
Oops thanks. I had in my head a top 75 road game is a Q1 win. Not sure why I was thinking that. Either way though they’re still teetering on #75 which would be significant for usu.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:04 pmIf they could get up to top 75 then the Q3 home game would move up to Q2 as well. Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
I'm not saying that you're wrong. If they could move up 30 spots then the Q2 road game would become Q1 and the Q3 home game would become Q2. It would definitely help us. I just don't see any possible way for them to move up 30 spots from 105 to get there.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:07 pmOops thanks. I had in my head a top 75 road game is a Q1 win. lol, disregard my posts, it’s late. I was thinking CSU’s net ranking was in the 80s for some crazy reason.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
Don’t think CSU could pass us because we swept them and they already have 6 losses in conference.
The only way we aren’t the 2 seed is if Nevada beats SDSU and we lose to UNM, right? Don’t we have the tiebreaker on all other comers and have the tiebreaker on Nevada if we both lose on Saturday?

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
SDST wins 66 to 60........Aztecs have 1 last game at Nevada which isn’t going to be easy in Reno. We need to beat the Lobos and then hope Aztecs beat Nevada.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
All academic now — the Aztecs pulled it out. CSU now officially eliminated from the hunt for second.
One of UNLV or BSU will be eliminated tomorrow from second place contention. Do we want UNLV in that one to lock them into the 4/5 game? I don’t think UNLV can move up past the 4 seed at this point because Nevada swept them, but I’m not sure if there are scenarios they could fall to 6 with a loss?
I think we are worst case the 3 seed now, but I could be mistaken.

As long as we beat the Lobos, it doesn’t matter what Nevada does as we own the tiebreaker over them.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
We could actually fall to #4 if we lost @ NM, Nevada beats SDSU and UNLV beats Boise. We would lose the head-to-head tiebreaker with UNLV (although we would beat them in three-way tiebreaker with Nevada.)

How does the tiebreaker pencil out with us and UNLV?SweepDance wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:30 pmWe could actually fall to #4 if we lost @ NM, Nevada beats SDSU and UNLV beats Boise. You know what would have been nice? Not blowing a freaking 18 point lead to BSU with 3 minutes left. We’d have the second seed and perhaps a tourney bid sewn up today.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
It honestly sucks that we played them at home during our worse stretch of basketball in the Craig Smith era. Would love another chance against them.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
First tie breaker is head to head. Since we split it goes to best record over the top team in the conference. They beat SDSU while we didn't so they get the nod.ineptimusprime wrote:How does the tiebreaker pencil out with us and UNLV?SweepDance wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:30 pmWe could actually fall to #4 if we lost @ NM, Nevada beats SDSU and UNLV beats Boise. Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
We would lose head-to-head. Since we split it would go to the best record against the top team and UNLV beat SDSU. In a three-way tie with UNLV and Nevada we win because Nevada and USU are both 2-1 among those three. That eliminates UNLV, then we win the head-to-head over Nevada.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:33 pm

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
If UNLV loses tomorrow, is there a scenario where they fall to 6? If so, I’d rather they win and most likely lock themselves into the 4 slot (banking on us beating UNM and/or SDSU beating UNR).SweepDance wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:37 pmWe would lose head-to-head. He is still recovering from the heart attack he had last night in the final five minutes of the SDSU-CSU game.

Im sure he'll come up with a good reason. Something like, "they meant to do that and it works out better because... blah, blah, blah"ThunderAggie wrote: ↑February 26th, 2020, 9:17 amHe is still recovering from the heart attack he had last night in the final five minutes of the SDSU-CSU game.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
UNLV can still get 3rd place. If they win out, USU loses at NM and Nevada beats SDSU at home we they will be the 3rd seed. Nevada would be the 2nd and we would be 4th. I hope boise beats UNLV and then that puts UNLV in the 4/5 spot likely assuming they win at SJSU.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 11:26 pmAll academic now — the Aztecs pulled it out. What’s happened is they just beat Nevada and locked up the 2 seed for us.

Re: What’s happened to San Diego State
Our boys can play without pressure against NM but I hope they play with urgency. We absolutely need to win the next two games and probably the next three to lock up an invite. Let’s do this!
