What can we expect from Wyoming?

Post by usubobcat » March 6th, 2020, 9:49 am

I haven't watched either of their tournament games. How have they gone from the bottom of the regular season conference standings to winning a couple of games in the tournament? Are they just making shots that they weren't during the regular season? Playing with more intensity? Any thoughts from anyone that's watched their games?

We can expect HEART. They were not expected to be here so they have nothing to lose.

They have nothing to lose they are going to come out and let the ball fly and play with all their heart. The Aggies have everything to lose in this game in terms of the loss would be terrible. I think the boys will come out confident but Wyoming will be a tough game tonight.

Also keep in mind that they played close with both Nevada and Colorado State in the regular season. UNR beat them by 1 and 5 in their two games, and CSU best them by 7 and 11. We won by 20 and 23.

We match up exceptionally well with Wyoming unlike UNM.
Keita is going to have a HUGE night.

I think we win by 25+. Nevada would have beat them if they played with ANY intensity at all. They were putting me to sleep after our game.

The Pokes have shot 26-27 deep balls each of the past two games at a 43% clip. We need to guard the perimeter well but just as important Queta needs to stay out of foul trouble. If the Pokes were smart they wouldn’t settle for 3’s early but drive aggressively and try to draw a few quick fouls against Neemi.

They were without their big guy (Thompson) when we played them last. He has the ability to shoot the 3 and pull Neemi out.

One thing we have going for us is Sam and Neemi played less than usual minutes last night whereas Marble, Muldanado, and Hendricks have all played big minutes the past two days. Tired legs should cool down their hot shooting streak.

We should win comfortably but you never know with these things.

We’ll need to contain that Hendrick’s kid.

We match up well with Wyoming and they have played hard the past two days.

But they are hot right now. Frankly, I think we have no room for complacency. My game plan would be come out guns blazing and beat them into submission. Hopefully we can do that quickly and let key players rest the last 5-10 minutes.

They are hot right now. In the two games against us they were 15-55 (27%) from 3 and they are 23/53 (43%) in the tourney so far. As for Hendricks, he is 2-15 against us.

This game isn’t about skill and size. If you saw last nights wyo v Nevada game you will know this game is about heart. Wyoming is coming in super confident believing they can do no wrong. You can expect a trap game. Utah state can win this game but they need to play with heart, focus, and poise.

Let's hope so. That Marble kid has been the reason they've won the last two games. I'm not sure a freshman should be tired after playing two games. Youngbloods can normally play ball all day and not get too tired.

Fatigue will not be an issue for a bunch of 18-22 year old kids. They are playing loose with house money. USU needs to open up a huge lead and not let them gain confidence.
