2nd shot opportunity, always puzzling to me

Post by hipsterdoofus21 » March 7th, 2020, 12:17 am

I wish I had the stats behind this, but I'm curious how often a guy makes that second three point attempt on a possession after he just missed one before hand. You see it all the time. Saw it twice tonight with Brito and Miller. Why does a guy think he should shoot it again after just clanking one?

I’m just grateful Miller didn’t pull the trigger a third time on that possession.

I would say in my experience that if I miss the shot and I am in tune enough to figure out what went wrong in my mechanics have a much higher chance of making the second shot.

So do you? I know the times I’ve done I rarely hit the second shot.

Yeah, I do. I would say I hit close to 70% on the second try when I get another clean look. It works for me, but I realize that’s not necessarily true for everyone.

Well then I agree, that's a high clip and you should shoot it then. I just don't see many players pull it off at this level.
