Wyoming beating Nevada and CSU is what did it. Those were two decent wins but Wyoming lowered their net which lowered ours.

Guess we may need to win today after all. I told you ya’ll were nuts hoping for Wyoming over Nevada. Nevada was a top 100 NET team. A loss to Nevada probably wouldn’t have hurt our NET as much as that win against Wyoming did, stupid as that is.

Does our NET move up just by playing SDSU today win or lose?

We’ll find out tomorrow if we lose. Hopefully we never have to find out.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 7th, 2020, 7:14 amDoes our NET move up just by playing SDSU today win or lose?

Re: NET ranking drops from 38 to 43 ...
Wyoming beating CSU and Nevada has nothing to do with our drop. The previous day’s ranking of 38 had already factored in those two results. Two things made the difference — Richmond jumping us by virtue of its “better” win and the fact that we beat lowly Wyoming by less than 1/2 of the line. So in a word you could say our foul shooting greatly contributed to our slip.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑March 7th, 2020, 6:28 amWyoming beating Nevada and CSU is what did it. I’ll be honest, I think this is the most anxious I’ve ever been for an Aggie game. I just feel like we’re in an interesting situation where if we win, we’ll go as high as a 7/8 seed, or lose and not even make the tournament at all.

And I’m just the opposite. I’m more relaxed. I was much more keyed up for the tourney games against NM and Wyoming. This afternoon we are not expected to win, so if we do it would be gravy. If we do win we go to the NCAAs. If we don’t we are probably a #1 seed in the NIT with likely a couple of more games at the Spectrum.SwaggieAggie wrote: ↑March 7th, 2020, 8:29 amI’ll be honest, I think this is the most anxious I’ve ever been for an Aggie game. I hate that I have to admit this, but this is the reason the WCC tournament is formatted the way it is. To help the top two seeds not go through a net ranking drop from losing or beating an inferior conference team in the tournament. Basically it's formatted in such a way where everyone 3 seed on down beat themselves. Right now with what Utah State beating Wyoming did to their net ranking is making the WCC tournament format look pretty genius right now. It wouldn't hurt for the conference office to look into making a similar change in future tournaments.

We needed to beat Wyoming by double digits, that is a factor in the net, I was upset they hit the three at the end and we missed so many free throws. Also, only fifteen hours between games, not a great idea!!!! Mwc does some pretty stupid things!

That format may not have really helped us had we used it though. Sometimes an inferior team get's hot and moves on. If we used that format there is a good chance that Wyoming would have still been hot down here, pulled off a couple of upsets and played us in the semi-finals. The only difference is that we wouldn't have played UNM first and UNM didn't hurt us.Aggiealum13 wrote: ↑March 7th, 2020, 10:24 amI hate that I have to admit this, but this is the reason the WCC tournament is formatted the way it is. Re: NET ranking drops from 38 to 43 ...
You're right. We may still have played Wyoming in the semi-final regardless. I believe it was last year that San Diego much like Wyoming this year was making a big run in the WCC tournament and they got to the semi-final against St Mary's. So it still could've happened. However, a team that has at-large hopes that's on the bubble like we are currently would have benefited us if it was under a WCC type format because a team like Wyoming would have to go through more teams to finally get to us. Unless serious turmoil happens for all the other bubble teams, we're going to have to win this thing today to get in the big dance. Go Aggies!ProvoAggie wrote: ↑March 7th, 2020, 10:36 amThat format may not have really helped us had we used it though. Sometimes an inferior team get's hot and moves on. We pretty much have to win today. We will need some people that are very friendly in the committee room to get in if we don't. NBC Sports currently has us as the outside looking in and we have nothing more we can do to get an at-large bid. Today is the championship for the MW and our play in game for the dance.

Yeah they are on a roll. Florida looked like they had things under control. A florida win would have to push us up a little in the net.

LSU has a big lead on Georgia. Just a matter of time before they blow that, too.
