MW Power Rankings for next year (long)

Post by slcagg » April 10th, 2020, 1:04 pm

You'd think I have some extra time but was tracking who was coming and going in the league and then spent too much time. However alot could happen between now and next season. The way I look at next year is their are really 3 tiers.

Tier 1: SDSU, USU, UNLV, Boise
Tier 2: CSU, New Mexico
Tier 3: Fresno, Wyoming, Nevada
Tier 4: Air Force, San Jose

Top Returning Players:

1. Derrick Alston (BSU)
2. Bryce Hamilton (UNLV)
3. Neemias Queta (USU)
4. Matt Churro Mitchell (Currently in NBA draft) (SDSU)
5. Isaiah Stevens (CSU)
6. Hunter Maldonado (Wyoming)
7. Justin Bean (USU)
8. Aj Walker (Air Force)
9. Orlando Robinson (Fresno)
10. Kwane Marble (Wyoming)

Top Impact Incoming Players (Eligible):

1. David Jenkins (UNLV)
2. Terrell Gomez (SDSU)
3. Emmanuel Akot (BSU)
4. Desmond Cambridge (Nevada)
5. Marco Anthony (USU)
6. Marcus Shaver (BSU)
7. Devonaire Doutrive (BSU)
8. Devin Gage (Fresno)/Jeremiah frances New Mexico
9. Warren Washington (Nevada)/valdir manuel (New Mexico)
10. Szymon Zapala (USU)/Che Evans (SDSU)/Nick Blake (UNLV)/Javonte Johnson (UNM)/Bayron Matos (UNM) (5 talented freshman that may be too good to keep off the court)

However below are my current rankings.

San Diego State
Projected Starters:
1. Terrell Gomez (Transfer from Northridge, 20 ppg at northridge can really shoot it)
2. Trey Pulliam (Key Reserve)
3. Jordan Schaakel (returning starter)
4. Matt Mitchell ( all conference guy)
5. Nathan Mensah (Starter)

Key Losses: KJ Feagin (Graduation, All League type player), Yanni Wetzel (Graduation, All league type player), Malachi Flynn (Draft, Conference POY in 19-20), Joel Mensah (Transfer, Reserve)

Bench: Adam Seiko (Key Reserve), Trey Pulliam (Key Reserve), Che Evans (New Recruit), Lamont Butler (New Recruit), Aguek Arop (Part time starter), Keshad Johnson (True freshman in 19-20, alot of buzz about him taking a big step and being a big time player for them, could start at the 4 if he does take that step), Joshua Tomaic

Key Additions: Che Evans (3 star recruit, has been offered a six figure salary from both the g league and a top Spanish league), Lamont Butler (3 star recruit), Keith Dinwiddie (3 start recruit), Terrell Gomez (All Big West transfer at pg), Joshua Tomaic (transfer big man from Maryland, was not a factor there)

Notes: Solid recruiting class and a great transfer in Brown. They seem to not have great depth at the post is their biggest weakness. The loss of Flynn is huge. You replace him in the starting lineup with Pulliam, who is good but not Flynn.

Utah State
Projected Starters:
1. Rollie Wooster/Steven Ashworth
2. Marco Anthony
3. Sean Bairstow
4. Justin Bean
5. Neemias Queta

Key Losses: Sam Merrill (Graduation, GOAT), Abel Porter (Graduation, Starter), Diogo Brito (Graduation, Starter), Roche Grootfram (Graduation, Reserve)

Bench: Alphonso Anderson, Szymon Zapala, Liam McChesney, Rollie Wooster/Steven Ashworth, Brock Miller, Max Shulga

Key Additions: Rollie Wooster, Steven Ashworth, Szymon Zapala, Max Shulga

Notes: Easily the best group of big men in the league. The question is do they have the guards.

Boise State
Projected Starters:
1. Marcus Shaver (Transfer from Portland, sat out, average 15 pts per game)
2. Devonaire Doutrive (Transfer from Arizona, will be eligible end of fall semester, high 4 star recruit)
3. Derrick Alston (All league guy)
4. Emmanuel Akot (Former 5 star recruit, sat out this year signed with Arizona)
5. Mladen Armus (Sat out this year, transferred from ETSU, solid rebounder, not a true center)

Key Losses: Marcus Dickenson (Graduation, Key Reserve), Justinian Jessup (Graduation, All MW), Riley Abercrombie (Transfer, Freshman), RJ Williams (Graduation, Starter), Robin Jorch (Graduation, Key Reserve), Alex Hobbs (Graduation, Key Reserve)

Bench: RayJ Dennis (Player that Aggies love), Max Rice (Coaches son, key reserve), Abu Kigab (Part-time starter), Bing Huang (Redshirt), Burke Smith (3 star recruit), Lukas Milner (jc big guy, could start at the 5), Naje smith (1st team all American jc wing player), Pavle Kuzmanovic (Euro Guard)

Key Additions: Burke Smith (3 star center), Kasean Pryor (wing recruit), Jace Whiting (Guard recruit from Burley Idaho), Naje Smith (1st team all American jc), Lukas Milner (jc center), Pavle Kuzmanovic (Euro Guard)

Notes: Lack true big guys. Mladen is only 6'7" and Burke Smith is really only option at center right now and he is a true freshman. Even Akot/Alston are really actually long wings. Overall though they have a lot of talent at the wings/guards spot especially if Alston does in fact return.

UNLV
Projected Starters:
1. Bryce Hamilton (All MW)
2. David Jenkins (Possible All MW, Transfer sat out from South Dakota State 19 PPG)
3. Marvin Coleman (Key Reserve)
4. Moses Wood (Reserve)
5. Cheikh Diong (Returning Starter)

Key Losses: Jonah Antonio (Transfer, Key Reserve), Nick Blair (Graduation, Key Reserve), Amauri Hardy (Transfer, All MW), Elijah Mitrou Long (Graduation, Starter), Donnie Tillman (Returning Starter, Former Utah Transfer, Transferring)

Bench: Cheikna Deimbele (Minimal reserve), Jay Green (Reserve), Nick Blake (recruit), Jhaylon Martinez (recruit), Isaac Lindsay (Recruit), Edoardo Del Cadia (JC 4 man, averaged 13 ppg and 9 rpg)

Key Additions: Nick Blake (Wing High 3 star), Jhaylon Martinez (Center High 3 Star), Isaac Lindsay (Wing High 3 star), Donavan Yap (Guard, 3 star), Reece Brown (Wing), Devin Tillis (Forward), Edoardo Del Cadia (JC 4 man, averaged 13 ppg and 9 rpg), Caleb Grill (Guard freshman transfer from Iowa State, started end of season was recruited by UNLV coach in hs, will need to sit out in 2020-2021)

Notes: David Jenkins and Bryce Hamilton should be a great duo. The Hardy and Long losses were big, same for Jonah Antonio. They also have the highest rated recruiting class coming in.

Colorado State
Projected Starters:
1. Kendle Moore (Starter)
2. Isaiah Stevens (Starter, FOY)
3. Adam Thistlewood (Starter)
4. David Roddy (Starter, potential all league talent)
5. Dischon Thomas (Reserve, not really a center)

Key Losses: Nico Carvacho (Graduation, All League), Hyron Edwards (Graduation, Reserve), Teyvion Kirk (Transfer, never played), Kris Martin (Graduation, Starter/Key Reserve)

Bench: PJ Byrd (Guard, Reserve), James Moors (Forward, Frosh RS), Ignus Sargiunus (Reserve, Wing), John Tonje (Wing, Reserve), Isaiah Rivera (Recruit, 3 star wing)

Key Additions: Isaiah Rivera (3 star wing)

Notes: Some very good young players like Fresno, but still need to fill out roster. Missing a true big man.

New Mexico
Projected Starters:
1. Saquan Singleton (jc commit with major interest)
2. Jeremiah frances (North Carolina transfer)
3. Rod Brown (jc transfer, might be more of a 4)
4. Makuach Maluach (Starter)
5. Valdir Manuel (jc all American)

Key Losses: Carlton Bragg (Graduation, Suspended mid year, Starter), JJ Caldwell (Transfer, Suspended mid year), Vance Jackson (Transfer, All league talent), Jaquan Lyle (Graduation, All league talent), Corey Maginault (Graduation, All league talent), Dru Drinnon (Quit at beginning of season), Vante Hendrix (Transfer, one time player at Utah, starter/key reserve), Tavian Percy (Transfer, reserve), Zane Martin (transfer, starter).

Bench: Keith McGee (key reserve), Jordan Arroyo (Wing, Minimal Reserve), Daniel Headdings (Guard, RS), Emmanuel Kuac (Guard, Former Magna guy), Kurt Wegscheider (Guard, Reserve), Assamese Ndiaye (jc center project type), Javonte Johnson, Byron Matos (solid freshman center, great reviews as he enrolled in January and practiced with the team)

Key Additions: Javonte Johnson (High 3 star wing),Bayron Matos (3 star center), Nolan Dorsey (PG), Assane Ndiaye (C, JC), Saquan Singleton (JC Guard/Wing, TCU, Alabama were interested as well), rod brown (athletic forward, had committed to Wichita state), Jeremiah Francis (freshman transfer from North Carolina, granted eligibility for upcoming season, former 4 star recruit), valdir Manuel (jc all American center)

Notes: Similar to this past year but less talent coming in. They have talent to compete but can they win?

Nevada
Projected Starters:
1. Desmond Cambridge (16.5 Pts from Brown, sat out last year)
2. Grant Sherfield (Soph Transfer from Wichita State, averaged close to 8 ppg as a freshman, immediately eligible)
3. Zane Meeks (Showed Promise as freshman)
4. Kj Hymas (Key Reserve)
5. Warren Washington (Eligible, transfer from Oregon State last year)

Key Losses: Nisre Zouzoua (Graduation, MW 6th man), John Carlos Reyes (Graduation, Starter), Lindsay Drew (Graduation, Starter), Jazz Johnson (Graduation, All MW), Eric Parrish (Transfer), Jalen Harris (NBA Draft)

Bench: Robby Robinson (key reserve), KJ Hymas (key reserve), Khristion Coursealt, Jelani Clark, Tre Coleman (True Freshman wing), Kane Milling (Reserve)

Key Additions: Grant Sherfield (Will sit out, from Wichita State), Deandre Henry, Jelani Clark, Daniel Foster, Alem Huseinovic

Notes: Jalen Harris is a huge hit to them. They have some young talent but really a year out from being competitive at the top of the MW.

Fresno State
Projected Starters:
1. Devin Gage (transfer from DePaul)
2. Anthony Holland (key reserve as a freshman averaging 4 ppg and 4 rpg)
3. Niven Hart (Solid Freshman 9 ppg)
4. Christian Gray (Reserve)
5. Orlando Robinson (Solid Freshman, 12 ppg and 6 rpg)

Key Losses: Ahuir Agua (Key Reserve, Transfer), Mustafa Lawrence (Key Reserve, Transfer), Lazaro Rojas (Reserve, Transfer), Noah Blackwell (Graduation, Starter), Nate Grimes (Graduation, All-Conference), New Williams (Graduation, Starter), Jared Hyder (Transfer, Very promising freshman guard that averaged close to 10 ppg, big loss for the future of the program), Cj Hyder (Transfer, Older brother to Jared, reserve guard)

Bench: Alec Hickman (reserve guard, wing), Assane Diouf (Soph center, reserve), Jordan Campbell (Key Reserve, freshman 4 ppg), Braxton Meah (3 star center), Leonardo Colimearo (3 star wing from Mt Pleasant Ut), Destin Whitaker (Guard recruit), Kyle Harding (JC Point Guard)

Key Additions: Deon Stroud (Transfer from UTEP, originally from Fresno, will have 4 to play 3. Had solid freshman year), Isaiah Hill (Transfer from Tulsa, same as Deon Stroud, both will sit out), Braxton Meah (3 star center), Leonardo Colimearo (3 star wing from Mt Pleasant Ut), Destin Whitaker (Guard recruit), Devin Gage (transfer pg from DePaul, key reserve at DePaul last year and the prior year was the starter), Kyle Harding (JC PG who averaged 13 pts, 4rb and 4 assists)

Notes: Some very talented freshman returning. Biggest holes right now is a guard spot with the loss of Jared Hyder and the 4 position. Orlando Robinson is the second best big man in the league behind Queta. I think they are really 1 year away before they make real noise once they get the transfers eligible. The loss of Jared Hyder really hurt their chances for next year.

Wyoming
Projected Starters:
1. Kenny Foster (Soph, Reserve, but really got it going in the MW tournament)
2. Kwane Marble (Soph, Starter going to be very good)
3. Hunter Maldonaldo (Soph, Starter, All Conference)
4. Drew Lamont (JC transfer, 12 ppg and 4 rpg in JC ranks, very good shooter)
5. Hunter Thompson (Starter, stretch center)

Key Losses: Aj Banks (Graduation, Part time starter), Jake Hendricks (Graduation, starter from smithfield), Trevon Taylor (Transfer, Starter), Greg Milton (Transfer, Part Time starter), Javier Turner (Reserve Center/Forward),

Bench: Austin Mueller (Walk on type player that has picked up some minutes, forward), Haize Fornstrom (Reserve, Guard), Drake Jeffries (JC Wing, 9 ppg), Eoin Nelson (6 ppg JC 4 man), Xavier Dusell (Freshman guard), Graham Ike (Freshman forward), Marcus Williams (Freshman Guard), Jeremiah oden (freshman wing)

Key Additions: Eoin Nelson (6 ppg JC 4 man), Drew Lamont (JC transfer, 12 ppg and 4 rpg in JC ranks, very good shooter), Drake Jeffries (JC Wing, 9 ppg), Xavier Dusell (HS recruit guard out of phoenix area that averaged 14 ppg his senior year, originally committed to Northern Colorado), Graham Ike (Colorado hs player of the year, 6'9" post), Marcus Williams (Guard recruit out of texas, averaged 21 ppg his senior year, was on a very highly ranked hs team), Jeremiah Oden (lengthy wing, highly recruited out of hs before going to prep school)

Notes: Have potentially two all conference guys in Marble and Maldonaldo. However they need to fill out team before we know what they have. Jeff Linder is the new coach and expect him to turn them around. Seems to be really focusing on shooters.

San Jose State
Projected Starters:
1. Omari Moore (Freshman that showed promise)
2. Seneca Knight (Starter, All Conference on a bad team)
3. Richard Washington (Starter, 10 ppg)
4. Eduardo Lane (Reserve)
5. Ralph Agee (Part time starter)

Key Losses: Brae Ivey (Guard, Starter), Craig Lecesne (F, Part Time Starter), Christian Anigwe (Transfer, Part time starter), Zach Chappell (Key Reserve, Guard, Transfer)

Bench: Harminder Dhaliwal (Center, Reserve), Kaison Hammonds (Reserve, Guard), Samuel Mathias (key Reserve, Center), Trey Smith (Key Reserve Guard), Michael Ofoegbu (Recruit), Nate lacewell

Key Additions: Hugo Clarkin (Center, no stars), Sebastian Mendoza (Guard, no stars, hs averaged 29 ppg in 3AA classification in california), Chase Courtney (HS stretch 4, averaged 14 pts his senior year), Michael Ofoegbu (6'7" forward, 14 pts and 8 rbs in prep school last year), Nate lacewell (6’9” wing out of Houston)

Notes: Could they make a jump. Kept their best player as of now (has not transferred).

Air Force
Projected Starters:
1. Aj Walker (all conference talent)
2. Chris Joyce (Key Reserve)
3. Carter Murphy (Reserve as freshman, highly recruited freshman)
4. Ameka Akaya (Key reserve)
5. Isaac Monson (Reserve Soph, From SLC)

Key Losses: LeSean Brown (Graduation, Reserve), Caleb Morris (Graduation, Starter), Lavelle Scottie (Graduation, All Conference), Ryan Swan (Graduation, Starter), Sid Tomes (Graduation, Key Reserve)

Bench: Keaton Soelen (Key Reserve, Forward), Simon Banks (RS Freshman PG), AJ Haut (RS Freshman F), Marcus Hill (Rs Freshman G), Nikc Jackson (Freshman Forward Reserve), Abe Kinrade (Soph Reserve, Forward), Anthony Charles (RS Freshman C/F) , Mason Taylor (reserve guard as a freshman)

Key Additions:

Notes: Hired their old coach back. The decision for aj Walker to return was big.

It is way too early for this because we don't know who is leaving and who is going on a number of teams. That said, you have Wyoming too low and UNLV is going to be up there.

I appreciate the leg work here and the breakdowns. I'm not caught up in where you have teams ranked cause rankings don't matter, results do.

Tier 1: SDSU (If Malachi comes back)
Tier 2: USU, UNLV, Boise (Could surprise and be very good), Nevada
Tier 3: Fresno, CSU and New Mexico
Tier 4: Wyoming and San Jose
Tier 5: Air Force

However below are my current rankings.

San Diego State
Projected Starters:
1. Terrell Gomez (Transfer from Northridge, 20 ppg at northridge can really shoot it)
2. Malachi Flynn (Returning Conference POY)
3. Jordan Schaakel (returning starter)
4. Matt Mitchell (Possible all conference guy)

Key Additions: Che Evans (3 star recruit), Lamont Butler (3 star recruit), Keith Dinwiddie (3 start recruit), Terrell Gomez (All Big West transfer at pg)
Notes: Solid recruiting class and a great transfer in Brown. They seem to not have great depth at the post is their biggest weakness. Still waiting on the Malachi Flynn ranking. Clear cut #1 in the league right now with the assumption of Malachi Flynn returning.

Utah State
Projected Starters:
1. Sean Bairstow
2. Marco Anthony
3. Brock Miller
4. Justin Bean
5. Neemias Queta

Key Losses: Sam Merrill (Graduation, GOAT), Abel Porter (Graduation, Starter), Diego Brito (Graduation, Starter), Roche Grootfram (Graduation, Reserve)
Bench: Alphonso Anderson, Nigel John, Liam McChesney, Rollie Wooster, Steven Ashworth
Key Additions: Rollie Wooster, Steven Ashworth, Nigel John
Notes: Easily the best group of big men in the league. The question is do they have the guards.

UNLV
Projected Starters:
1. Bryce Hamilton (All MW)
2. David Jenkins (Possible All MW, Transfer sat out from South Dakota State 19 PPG)
3. Marvin Coleman (Key Reserve)

5. Cheikh Diong (Returning Starter)
Key Losses: Jonah Antonio (Transfer, Key Reserve), Nick Blair (Graduation, Key Reserve), Amauri Hardy (Transfer, All MW), Elijah Mitrou Long (Graduation, Starter)
Bench: Cheikna Deimbele (Minimal reserve), Jay Green (Reserve), Moses Wood (Reserve), Nick Blake (recruit), Jhaylon Martinez (recruit), Isaac Lindsay (Recruit)
Key Additions: Nick Blake (Wing High 3 star), Jhaylon Martinez (Center High 3 Star), Isaac Lindsay (Wing High 3 star), Donavan Yap (Guard, 3 star), Reece Brown (Wing), Devin Tillis (Forward)
Notes: David Jenkins and Bryce Hamilton should be a great duo. The Hardy and Long losses were big, same for Jonah Antonio. They also have the highest rated recruiting class coming in.

1. Marcus Shaver (Transfer from Portland, sat out, average 15 pts per game)
2. Devonaire Doutrive (Transfer from Arizona, will be eligible end of fall semester, high 4 star recruit)

Bench: Robby Robinson (key reserve), KJ Hymas (key reserve), Khristion Coursealt, Kane Milling, Jelani Clark
Key Additions: Grant Sherfield (Will sit out, from Wichita State), Deandre Henry, Jelani Clark, Daniel Foster, Alem Huseinovic
Notes: If Washington is better than average I could see them being very good. Meeks showed some promise as a freshman. Guard line with Harris is great and Cambridge could be very good. Still a very young team.

Fresno State
Projected Starters:
1. Anthony Holland (Solid Freshman 4 ppg and 4 rpg)

Yeah really meant to do this to more or less track who is coming and going in the conference. I agree a prediction right now isn’t worth much, and I’m not expert anyways.

It is way too early for this because we don't know who is leaving and who is going on a number of teams. That said, you have Wyoming too low and UNLV is going to be up there.
Yeah really meant to do this to more or less track who is coming and going in the conference. I agree a prediction right now isn’t worth much, and I’m not expert anyways.
Honestly, I don't really understand why something that obviously had a ton of work put in is being picked apart?

Agreed. This is just for grins right now. A lot can change but I give slcagg a ton of credit for as in-depth a look that we’ve got right now.

If nothing else, it's a great framework to adapt off of as things progress. As far as people picking, I've noticed that with what we are going through right now, people are just naturally slipping into negativity and grouchiness. Of course, I'm the shining beacon of hope and promise....it's just people around me that have a problem. ;)

Wow, this was a really good write up. I don't follow the rest of the conference very well so I really enjoyed getting the succinct look into each conference foe. Thank you for taking your time to do this!

You'd think I have some extra time but was tracking who was coming and going in the league and then spent too much time. However alot could happen between now and next season. The way I look at next year is their are really 5 tiers.

Tier 1: SDSU (If Malachi comes back)
Tier 2: USU, UNLV, Boise (Could surprise and be very good), Nevada
Tier 3: Fresno, CSU and New Mexico
Tier 4: Wyoming and San Jose
Tier 5: Air Force

However below are my current rankings.

San Diego State
Projected Starters:
1. Terrell Gomez (Transfer from Northridge, 20 ppg at northridge can really shoot it)
2. Malachi Flynn (Returning Conference POY)
3. Jordan Schaakel (returning starter)
4. Matt Mitchell (Possible all conference guy)
5. Nathan Mensah (Starter)

Key Losses: KJ Feagin (Graduation, All League type player), Yanni Wetzel (Graduation, All league type player)
Bench: Adam Seiko (Key Reserve), Trey Pulliam (Key Reserve), Joel Mensah (Reserve), Che Evans (New Recruit), Lamont Butler (New Recruit), Aguek Arop (Part time starter)

4. Donnie Tillman (Returning Starter, Former Utah Transfer)
5. Cheikh Diong (Returning Starter)
Key Losses: Jonah Antonio (Transfer, Key Reserve), Nick Blair (Graduation, Key Reserve), Amauri Hardy (Transfer, All MW), Elijah Mitrou Long (Graduation, Starter)
Bench: Cheikna Deimbele (Minimal reserve), Jay Green (Reserve), Moses Wood (Reserve), Nick Blake (recruit), Jhaylon Martinez (recruit), Isaac Lindsay (Recruit)
Key Additions: Nick Blake (Wing High 3 star), Jhaylon Martinez (Center High 3 Star), Isaac Lindsay (Wing High 3 star), Donavan Yap (Guard, 3 star), Reece Brown (Wing), Devin Tillis (Forward)
Notes: David Jenkins and Bryce Hamilton should be a great duo. The Hardy and Long losses were big, same for Jonah Antonio. They also have the highest rated recruiting class coming in.

Boise State
Projected Starters:
1. Marcus Shaver (Transfer from Portland, sat out, average 15 pts per game)
2. Devonaire Doutrive (Transfer from Arizona, will be eligible end of fall semester, high 4 star recruit)
3. Derrick Alston (Has declared for draft but hasn't officially signed with agent, all league guy)
4. Emmanuel Akot (Former 5 star recruit, sat out this year signed with Arizona)
5. Mladen Armus (Sat out this year, transferred from ETSU, solid rebounder, not a true center)
Key Losses: Marcus Dickenson (Graduation, Key Reserve), Justinian Jessup (Graduation, All MW), Riley Abercrombie (Transfer, Freshman), RJ Williams (Graduation, Starter), Robin Jorch (Graduation, Key Reserve), Alex Hobbs (Graduation, Key Reserve)
Bench: RayJ Dennis (Player that Aggies love), Max Rice (Coaches son, key reserve), Abu Kigab (Part-time starter), Bing Huang (Redshirt), Burke Smith (3 star recruit)
Key Additions: Burke Smith (3 star center), Kasean Pryor (wing recruit), Jace Whiting (Guard recruit from Burley Idaho)
Notes: Lacks true big guys. Mladen is only 6'7" and Burke Smith is really only option at center right now and he is a true freshman. Even Akot/Alston are really actually long wings. Overall though they have a lot of talent at the wings/guards spot especially if Alston does in fact return)

Nevada
Projected Starters:
1. Desmond Cambridge (16.5 Pts from Brown, sat out last year)
2. Jalen Harris (All-league returnee)
3. Tre Coleman (True Freshman)
4. Zane Meeks (Showed Promise as freshman)
5. Warren Washington (Eligible, transfer from Oregon State last year)
Key Losses: Nisre Zouzoua (Graduation, MW 6th man), John Carlos Reyes (Graduation, Starter), Lindsay Drew (Graduation, Starter), Jazz Johnson (Graduation, All MW), Eric Parrish (Transfer)

2. Jared Hyder (Solid Freshman 9 ppg)
3. Niven Hart (Solid Freshman 9 ppg)
4. Christian Gray (Reserve)
5. Orlando Robinson (Solid Freshman, 12 ppg and 6 rpg)
Key Losses: Ahuir Agua (Key Reserve, Transfer), Mustafa Lawrence (Key Reserve, Transfer), Lazaro Rojas (Reserve, Transfer), Noah Blackwell (Graduation, Starter), Nate Grimes (Graduation, All-Conference), New Williams (Graduation, Starter)
Bench: Cj Hyder (older brother to Jared, reserve guard), Alec Hickman (reserve guard, wing), Assane Diouf (Soph center, reserve), Jordan Campbell (Key Reserve, freshman 4 ppg), Braxton Meah (3 star center), Leonardo Colimearo (3 star wing from Mt Pleasant Ut), Destin Whitaker (Guard recruit)
Key Additions: Deon Stroud (Transfer from UTEP, originally from Fresno, will have 4 to play 3. Had solid freshman year), Isaiah Hill (Transfer from Tulsa, same as Deon Stroud, both will sit out), Braxton Meah (3 star center), Leonardo Colimearo (3 star wing from Mt Pleasant Ut), Destin Whitaker (Guard recruit)
Notes: Some very talented freshman returning. Biggest holes right now is a guard spot and the 4 position. Orlando Robinson is the second best big man in the league behind Queta. I think they are really 1 year away before they make real noise.

Colorado State
Projected Starters:
1. Kendle Moore (Starter)
2. Isaiah Stevens (Starter, FOY)
3. Adam Thistlewood (Starter)
4. David Roddy (Starter, potential all league talent)
5. Dischon Thomas (Reserve, not really a center)
Key Losses: Nico Carvacho (Graduation, All League), Hyron Edwards (Graduation, Reserve), Teyvion Kirk (Transfer, never played), Kris Martin (Graduation, Starter/Key Reserve)
Bench: PJ Byrd (Guard, Reserve), James Moors (Forward, Frosh RS), Ignus Sargiunus (Reserve, Wing), John Tonje (Wing, Reserve), Isaiah Rivera (Recruit, 3 star wing)
Key Additions: Isaiah Rivera (3 star wing)
Notes: Some very good young players like Fresno, but still need to fill out roster. Missing a true big man.

New Mexico
Projected Starters:
1. Keith McGee (Key Reserve)
2. Zane Martin (Starter)
3. Vante Hendrix (Key Reserve, Former Utah Player)
4. Makuach Maluach (Starter)
5. Assane Ndiaye (JC Recruit)
Key Losses: Carlton Bragg (Graduation, Suspended mid year, Starter), JJ Caldwell (Transfer, Suspended mid year), Vance Jackson (Transfer, All league talent), Jaquan Lyle (Graduation, All league talent), Corey Maginault (Graduation, All league talent), Dru Drinnon (Quit at beginning of season)
Bench: Saquan Singleton (JC Recruit, Wing/Guard), Jordan Arroyo (Wing, Minimal Reserve), Daniel Headdings (Guard, RS), Emmanuel Kuac (Guard, Former Magna guy), Tavian Percy (Guard, Minimal Reserve), Kurt Wegscheider (Guard, Reserve), Javonte Johnson (recruit), Bayron Matos (recruit)
Key Additions: Marcus Watson (High 4 star hs recruit transfer that will sit out the year from Oklahoma State, got kicked out of Oklahoma State for rape allegations, another winner for new mexico, possibly mid-year transfer), Javonte Johnson (High 3 star wing),Bayron Matos (3 star center), Nolan Dorsey (PG), Assane Ndiaye (C, JC), Saquan Singleton (JC Guard/Wing, TCU, Alabama were interested as well
Notes: Similar to this past year but less talent coming in. They have talent to compete but can they win?

Wyoming
Projected Starters:
1. Kenny Foster (Soph, Reserve, but really got it going in the MW tournament)
2. Kwane Marble (Soph, Starter going to be very good)
3. Hunter Maldonaldo (Soph, Starter, All Conference)
4.
5. Hunter Thompson (Starter, stretch center)
Key Losses: Aj Banks (Graduation, Part time starter), Jake Hendricks (Graduation, starter from smithfield), Trevon Taylor (Transfer, Starter), Greg Milton (Transfer, Part Time starter)
Bench: Javier Turner (Reserve Center/Forward), Austin Mueller (Walk on type player that has picked up some minutes, forward), Haize Fornstrom (Reserve, Guard)
Key Additions:
Notes: Have potentially two all conference guys in Marble and Madlonaldo. However they need to fill out team before we know what they have. Jeff Linder is the new coach and expect him to turn them around.

San Jose State
Projected Starters:
1. Omari Moore (Freshman that showed promise)
2. Seneca Knight (Starter, All Conference on a bad team)
3. Richard Washington (Starter, 10 ppg)
4. Christian Anigwe (Part time starter)
5. Ralph Agee (Part time starter)
Key Losses: Brae Ivey (Guard, Starter), Craig Lecesne (F, Part Time Starter)
Bench: Zach Chappell (Key Reserve, Guard), Harminder Dhaliwal (Center, Reserve), Kaison Hammonds (Reserve, Guard), Samuel Mathias (key Reserve, Center), Eduardo Lane (F/C, Key Reserve), Trey Smith (Key Reserve Guard),
Key Additions: Hugo Clarkin (Center, no stars), Sebastian Mendoza (Guard, no stars)
Notes: Could they make a jump. Kept their best player as of now (has not transferred).

Air Force
Projected Starters:
1. Mason Taylor (Reserve as a freshman)
2. Chris Joyce (Key Reserve)
3. Carter Murphy (Reserve as freshman, highly recruited freshman)
4. Ameka Akaya (Key reserve)
5. Isaac Monson (Reserve Soph, From SLC)
Key Losses: LeSean Brown (Graduation, Reserve), Caleb Morris (Graduation, Starter), Lavelle Scottie (Graduation, All Conference), Ryan Swan (Graduation, Starter), Sid Tomes (Graduation, Key Reserve), AJ Walker (Transfer, all conference talent)
Bench: Keaton Soelen (Key Reserve, Forward), Simon Banks (RS Freshman PG), AJ Haut (RS Freshman F), Marcus Hill (Rs Freshman G), Nikc Jackson (Freshman Forward Reserve), Abe Kinrade (Soph Reserve, Forward), Anthony Charles (RS Freshman C/F)
Key Additions:
Notes: Hired their old coach back. Right now easily the least talent in the league. Losing the pg to transfer hurt.
Wow. If those top tier teams remain intact the league will be really good, could be a 3, maybe even a 4 bid league. This is good for the conference.

That’s Interesting and not surprising. Frank is this your all American?

I am confused though as the 247 website has him committed to New Mexico.

Watson is definitely an nmsu recruit. There is a thread dedicated to Watson on the nmsu aggie board now. Disagree with the projected starters you listed for the UNM squad. You most likely have Martin and Maluach correct. Bayron Matos enrolled early last semester and practiced. The Abq Journal beat writer, Geoff Grammar, stated that Matos was probably
the best player on the court during those practices that Matos participated in. Matos will start. Javonte Johnson is a highly touted incoming frosh who I believe averaged 30 ppg his senior year in Colorado. I'm not saying that he will start.
Recently committed PG Saquan Singleton had some nice offers before settling on UNM. Could be a starter. Wouldn't be
surprised if Vante Hendrix was not on the team next season. The 7 footer that you listed as a starter is a project as I understand. Most likely not a starter.

Looks to be another long season for UNM.

That’s great to hear on the freshman center. I saw somewhere the 7 foot jc kid averaged like 2 ppg and 2 rpg or something like that.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will update.

Hey what’s been the word on the Kuac kid? He played at least some his hs ball in salt lake and I’ve been curious if he ends up producing at all.

Any other news in the future would love to hear about it on the board. Welcome to the board as id assume you are a lobo fan.

Adding Devin Gage to Fresno. That is one spot they had a hole. I could see them possibly making some noise next year. I think this for the most part solidifies there was roster barring any players transferring from there.

Jalen Harris has declared for the draft (without agent). I would expect him back. That makes two thus far in the conference that I am aware of in Harris and Hipsters favorite woman basketball player. The other 2 names to watch our Flynn and Queta in my opinion. I think the only one of those 4 close to the first round is Flynn though.

If Harris left Nevada I would suspect it would be considered a rebuilding year in Reno.

I think Harris may return. He will graduate this summer so he could leave that way too. I have no inside info but I would put the odds at 75/25 that he stays.

I think either way it is year 2 of a rather long term rebuild.

I think the report you presented is very well done. Thanks for putting in the effort.

Updated with the Fresno loss of Hyder. Moved them down a bit in the ranking. I think that is a kick in the gut for the program as I expected Hyder to potentially be an all league type guy down the road. That transfer opens 2 spots up for Fresno.

You are probably right. However we do return two of the top players in the league in Bean and def Queta (Top 3 player returning in my opinion if returns to full health and improves conditioning). Not many teams in the league can say that. When evaluating the league there are not many big guys better than these two let alone having two of them.

I think there are 3 tiers right now with the top tier SDSU, USU, UNLV, Boise and Nevada. A second tier with Wyoming, Fresno, CSU and UNM. Then a bottom tier of Air Force and SJSU. However I think there is still a long way to go to next season and alot can change.

If Bean or Queta were elite perimeter scorers I’d feel better about it. Their skill sets are a little redundant.

Marble and Maldonado at Wyo are probably fielding calls as we speak. I bet they go into the portal before July.
They already said the are coming back.
Which means they haven't been offered by the right $chools.
