Hadn't noticed this before, but at about the :20 second mark an Aztec brushed Brito as he was crouched on the floor and Diogo seems to have taken offense and was starting after him and the ref stepped in. Nothing intentional, but just perhaps Diogo's emotions were running at the red line at that moment.

I'd seen the kneeling and brush before, but I hadn't noticed Bean going out to him before you pointing it out... Interesting. Now I need to go check other clips.

Notice the fan yelling MVP..MVP..right before the shot goes down.

I’ve noticed the bump into Brito from other footage and it seemed to me to be intentional. But from the angle of this video it was clearly not intentional. But Brito was in stalking mode until the ref intervened and Bean calmed him down.

Never gets old. The best Aggie basketball moment for me. Given everything that has happened since then that is what I have been hanging my hat on. Great memory.

This memory removes all bitterness of getting snubbed by the NCAA tournament via Virus for me. Every time I think of the end of the season I remember The Shot. Also, side note I am 3/3 on attending conference championships in which the Aggies win the tournament :)

Wouldn’t it be fun to have a whole section of students wear Ref jerseys for a game?

Thank you so much for sharing this! By far the best live sports moment of my life! Can even see myself going nuts during one of the pans of the Aggie crowd. Hoping for more memories like this to be made again this next season! GO AGGIES!!! :scotsman:

Watching this again made my day. Thank you for sharing what is one of the few major highlights to 2020. That tournament, that game, and that shot were amazing!

That is something that could probably be organized just like any other T-shirt promo. I think there are a few refs that could make it all the better but I have no clue how far in advance there is a way to learn the crew reffing a particular game.

I like going through that picture and looking at faces. Some jubilant, some angry, some in disbelief, some losing their minds.

I was sitting down by the SDSU basket and was surrounded by their fans. They got real quiet real fast, it was funny. I will admit though that several came up and gave their congratulations after the game. Different than my experience in Provo.

The looks in their faces are priceless! That’s what I love about sports in general. Such an emotional experience, for better or for worse.

I send up an audible thanks to Sam and Aggie basketball almost daily for giving us that tournament championship before going into the hell this country has been through the last 5 months. Oddly enough, I don’t consider the virus as much a cause of that hell as the infighting, rioting, and social destruction that has plagued this country much more than the virus.

Not an uncommon narrative. The change from the virus could be handled... the social distancing, the respect, mask-wearing, with relatively normal life... but we chose instead to fight and complain and ignore and kick back rather than working as a nation. Masks were unconstitutional, anyone who didn't want to close their business was an idiot who was going to kill their entire community, and we decided there couldn't be a middle ground.

Plenty of other nations have handled this much, much better than we have, both from public health and economic viewpoints. So, clearly it was possible. But we failed to put in the best effort before it hit and in the early days, when action would have been much more effective.

But back to basketball! I've been rewatching old highlights of games from last season, trying to scratch the itch for Aggie basketball content. I want to see if/where Sam gets drafted to. I want to see the new guys. I want to see McChesney and Bairstow develop into major contributors. I just want to see anything Aggie basketball, lol. I've watched the San Diego game 5 times. I've watched other tourney games two or three times. I rewatched the Florida and South Florida games. I recently decided this week that I'd be really interested to see what a film session with the team was like. I don't own a single jersey or NBA swag, but I'm definitely buying a hat or something from whoever drafts Sam. I don't watch much NBA and don't have much of an allegiance there, but I'd love to cheer for Sam's team, regardless of who it is.

I watched the UNM tourney game from this last Conference Tournament. It was awesome to watch the team scrape their way back and win that game.
