I'd take it.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

The Bucks will be a nice landing spot for him. Good for Sam.

Re: Last pick
Congratulations Sam, this could not happen to a better person. The bucks will be a good fit for him. I do believe he will make an impact and make the roster. So excited for him. Nice to see an aggie player drafted.

WOW!! Already got a guaranteed deal! That's rare that late in the 2nd round.

Re: Last pick
In theory yes. Or they can just not bring him back on for season 2 and he gets to keep the 1/2 season salary. If they want to keep him on the team for the full year 2 they have to pony up a full year guarantee. Similar to guys that come up on 10 day contracts. They can put them on 10 days I think twice or three times before deciding to guarantee them money from then on.Coloraggie wrote: ↑November 18th, 2020, 10:40 pmHow does 1.5 years guaranteed work? At least, that's my assumption.

Re: Last pick
Cool details:
Last Aggie drafted was in the sixth round. When there were a lot fewer DI teams, a lot fewer Europeans and very few underclassmen. This pick is much better.
Guaranteed money within 30 minutes is soooo much better than the Undrafted free agent route.
The Bucks are a solid organization.
Many of the posters on the board have increased their interest in the NBA.

Re: Last pick
They can cut him at any time they want but they will still have to pay him for the sum of a year and a half on that contract.Coloraggie wrote: ↑November 18th, 2020, 10:40 pmHow does 1.5 years guaranteed work? They can cut him halfway in the season?

Re: Last pick
Not a bad contract to start for Sam. I think he will prove himself and be able to secure some back up gigs for several years in the league. So happy for him.ratofallaggies wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 7:58 amThey can cut him at any time they want but they will still have to pay him for the sum of a year and a half on that contract.Coloraggie wrote: ↑November 18th, 2020, 10:40 pmHow does 1.5 years guaranteed work? Re: Last pick
I think that he could fill a Kyle Korver or JJ Reddick role for teams (although Korver is a bit bigger than him, played a 3guard, and could defend bigger guys).Aggie84025 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 8:13 amNot a bad contract to start for Sam. I also think that an NBA diet and NBA exercise regiment will likely help him become a bit more athletic too.

Re: Last pick
For reals tho. As soon as someone spots a Sam Merril bucks jersey it NEEDS to be a post on here immediately. I want one. New favorite team by far.
