Queta and big men
I'm so glad we have Queta!! I turned on the BYU-St Mary game last night after ours, because i wanted to watch something, and i watched BYU and St Mary march out big man after big man. They were your typical big men that have always been bigger than others and all they did was duck their heads and try to push their way closer to the rim and get an easy 2 foot shot. then miss it!!! With queta he is so athletic, even running down the court that he doesn't seem to be a 7' big. he has good foot work, he can walk and chew gum at the same time and is very explosive when he dunks!! Thanks Queta and coach Smith, it's fun to watch!!!

Re: Queta and big men
Did I hear the anouncers correctly that he spent the offseason with Bogut working specifically on his footwork?

Re: Queta and big men
Is Nate Harris still around. He had some of the best footwork and post moves around. For an undersized center (6'7"?), he was very effective around the basket and scoring the ball. Queta should watch film on Harris and learn. That said - Queta has improved a ton in this area since his freshman year. He is much better this year. His health (and confidence in the knee) is part of the reason, but he has obviously put a lot of work into developing post moves.pilotaggie wrote: ↑January 15th, 2021, 2:37 pmDid I hear the anouncers correctly that he spent the offseason with Bogut working specifically on his footwork?

Harris put up 20 points on 9-12 shooting from the field (thanks USUstats.com) in a 26-point beat-down of the Bogut-led Utes in 2004. That was with the much taller and bigger Bogut guarding him. If I was going to seek advice - I would go to Harris.

Re: Queta and big men
I guess that could have happened. But Bogut must have come up to Logan on occasion or Queta got to Salt Lake....because the AD said Queta spent the whole offseason in Logan.pilotaggie wrote: ↑January 15th, 2021, 2:37 pmDid I hear the anouncers correctly that he spent the offseason with Bogut working specifically on his footwork?

Re: Queta and big men
Harris embarrassed Bogut when he came to Logan I thought for sure he was overrated. Had a decent run in the NBA afterward.

I look forward to Queta running rough shot on the BSU big lug. Q will have his way.
