That may be part of the reason that we've never been able to beat them.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑April 5th, 2021, 7:43 amI don't think we've ever played Virginia, have we?hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑April 5th, 2021, 6:15 amWell he did beat Virginia, something we have never been able to do.

Re: Coaching candidates
Weird question: If a player transfers from School A to school B and then the coach moves to USU are those players ready to move to USU and can they play or did the original transfer from A-B cause them to lose their transfer-ability for the current year?

Re: Coaching candidates
I think the ncaa would give them a release. Then I believe with covid and everyone can transfer anyway without sitting. But maybe that was just football? But certainly helps explains the high numbers in the transfer portal.AggieBlueMint wrote: ↑April 5th, 2021, 11:25 amWeird question: If a player transfers from School A to school B and then the coach moves to USU are those players ready to move to USU and can they play or did the original transfer from A-B cause them to lose their transfer-ability for the current year?

Wow, this poster nailed it. Amazing. Props to him. A very pointed and specific callout of Ryan Odom. Such foresight.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑March 30th, 2021, 1:02 pmList of people I've never heard of (not unlike Craig Smith in '17) who have seen success:

I'm sorry if everyone else knows these guys... can't say I'm terribly familiar with HCs around the nation.

Of the coaches listed there, who has had a decent record but is also young or energetic enough?
Ryan Odom - checks most of the boxes and I predict would be the guy of anyone on this list
Austin Klaunch - (Southland COY) is certainly young but I don't know if 3 years of coaching is enough.
Dana Ford? I like that he was an assistant at Wichita St. but he hasn't had much success as a HC.

Re: Coaching candidates
It seems like one thing that could have prevented the Midnight Train from ever having credibility in the first place was something falling through with Randy Spetman going to Florida State. It was getting that right, along with the new coach being Gary(for his first stint) that got everyone addicted to him being credible. He has since missed on invitations to the Mountain West a few times before it was real, VJ Fehoko coming here, and Scott Barnes leaving for Cal.
