Why not get the Oral Roberts coach
Paul Mills made it to the Sweet 16 and came close to the elite 8.
Oral Roberts improved every year that he was there.
The season before Mills, Oral Roberts went 8-22.

Re: Why not get the Oral Roberts coach
Didn't we already hire a coach from ORU? How did that one turn out? Iduno, it's probably a lateral move money wise, I assume they have a similar budget as USU. He's probably at least on the "look at" list

Yes, I looked it up the other day and that is what it showed. Not sure how accurate it is.

Meh, he doesn't instill a bunch of confidence if it were up to me. While their record has improved marginally, they have finished, 5th, 5th, 4th and 4th in the Summit League in his 4 years. He's not even .500 at ORU. This year's tourney run will be memorable for them for a long time but it looks like that result is the outlier.

1st season 5-9
2nd season 7-9
3rd season 9-7
4th season 10-5
Mills faced a lot of big name schools that Oral Roberts lost to this season like Arkansas (twice), Oklahoma State, Wichita State, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

Mills was also at Baylor before that as an assistant when they had to build back from the death penalty. So he knows how to build a program. Hartwell said today the max we could pay would be in the neighborhood of $900-950K.

Re: Why not get the Oral Roberts coach
USU would be a huge pay upgrade for a coach from Oral Roberts. We may not pay as much as the big boys, but we pay a lot more than Summit League schools. We can definitely pull head coaches from that level.
