Re: Shulga is back
I hope he stays since he has real potential and 4 years of basketball. Shulga would help us with Worster in the portal.

Verbal commits says he has enrolled in school (did he leave?) and is added to the official roster.

Re: Shulga is back
I like Shulga, he is a solid defender and has a good shot. His % was not awesome last year, but you can tell he is a shooter. Hopefully he stays in Logan the whole summer and is able to work out with the team and get better. I do love his potential.

Re: Shulga is back
Bean told him "stay and improve as much as I did and you too can be an Aggie Legend". Seriously, it was obvious that he was scared stiff during the tourney but he showed some flashes during the regular season when he got a chance. He's one of those guys that in a normal year with a typical OOC schedule could have got his feet wet a lot sooner. Seems Odom must have re-recruited him and that's a good sign.

I believe Shulga can be a great Aggie.Bank Shot wrote: ↑April 9th, 2021, 8:56 pmBean told him "stay and improve as much as I did and you too can be an Aggie Legend". Re: Shulga is back
I would like to believe that Odom is behind the rerecruitment. I have no details there but that is not an easy thing to do. Once a player puts their name in the portal it almost feels like a slap in the face and it takes a lot to want to face up with the player leaving and lob the possibility of returning.
Go Grizzlies, Jazz, Real SL, Seahawks, USA! Go Aggies!

What are your thoughts on this? I usually have a very similar opinion about things as you and I think he fits Ryan Odom system very well. What are your mixed feelings concerning?

Re: Shulga is back
Yeah... I’m not mad or anything, but I would have liked to see what we could’ve done with the scholarship. But he showed enough promise that I’m interested in seeing how he develops.
It’s really weird to enter the portal and then withdraw within like 24 hours.

I JUST saw this. It might be a little late tonight but I'll see if I can get the story behind this.

Re: Shulga is back
I for one am really glad he is back. He sat for a while but when he finally got his chance he played hard, showed a knack for moving without the ball to the right positions, is clearly a shooter and will get comfortable with more playing time. He has good size and athletic ability. He also had a lot of steals for his limited minutes. I think he’ll be great.

Do you folks think he just changed his mind or did he strike out in the portal ? Are we sure he wants to be back ?scotlandog wrote: ↑April 9th, 2021, 9:46 pmI for one am really glad he is back. Re: Shulga is back
I would think this has Odom’s signature all over it.
Don’t think that Andersen and Wowrster are gone yet either.

Re: Shulga is back
Or maybe he has arrangements in Europe and doesn't want to field inquiries from other schools by remaining in the portal?

I wondered if this were true about Marco. He heard Marco is leaving & then saw the path to PT. No idea though, just speculation.

I’m happy he’s back & think he could add to the team, but was excited to see what type of transfer Odom was going to bring with his spot.

Re: Shulga is back
He may have thought Smith wanted him to come along to Utah, put his name in and Smith said nope. His name was barely in the portal for what? A day? He couldn’t have struck out unless it was with Smith. There wasn’t enough time to strike out.oleblu111 wrote:Do you folks think he just changed his mind or did he strike out in the portal ? No I think he either had Coach in his ear and talked him back to the team or he saw Worster enter the portal and figured he could be a starter or get lots of minutes. I think he would be getting lots of minutes anyways depending on who Coach brings in.
Maybe he didn’t really understand what was happening and once he entered and Coach said “Hey, why you are leaving?” He was like I’m not leaving, I just though that’s what we are supposed to do haha.

Re: Shulga is back
I don't think Utah was Shulga's target location. He was ready to transfer away from Smith before he knew he was leaving. Why would he then want to follow him to Utah? I'm thinking it has to do with Wooster, Usu players, and/or the coach for why he came back.scotlandog wrote: ↑April 9th, 2021, 11:36 pmHe may have thought Smith wanted him to come along to Utah, put his name in and Smith said nope. Re: Shulga is back
Has anyone confirmed if he is actually coming back?
The whole scenario is weird. Rumored to be going pro, then enters portal (weird if trying to go pro), then withdraws from portal 24 hours later. Do we know he’s not just leaving the portal to go back to Europe to try to go pro?
