Re: Updated 2022 Offer
This kid is being talked about as being good enough to play in the NBA.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑August 17th, 2021, 11:34 amCollin Chandler put out his top 6, we're not in it. However, if this kid one day transfers I have to think we'll be positioned as a good landing spot. Given the transfer environment and goodwill with these kids I agree that it's not a waste at all.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑April 21st, 2021, 8:53 pmNot to mention the goodwill you build with guys who coach these kids, and who will coach others in the future.nswaggie wrote: ↑April 21st, 2021, 8:48 pmMaybe the conversation goes better in a couple years if he is desperate to transfer out of Utah/Byu but wants to stay local. I don’t think it is ever wasted time to recruit a local kid, especially with the new transfer portal rules. I would probably spend a good portion of my time developing relationships with kids that may be a little out of reach and then plan on it paying off in the portal a few years later. Pretty sure that is how CS landed Marco.ChicagoAggie wrote: ↑April 21st, 2021, 8:37 pmAt least they are trying. Would rather them offer then take the stance he’ll never come here.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑April 21st, 2021, 8:34 pmI hate to the be the bearer of bad news here but this is a waste of time & resources.
This kid is desperate to go to BYU or Utah & is being recruited by both. Not only that but the new coaching staff is way to the game here (through no fault of their own obviously).
He won’t be coming to Usu.

Re: Updated 2022 Offer
Collin Chandler would have to be straight up looney to go to BYU or Utah with that list of offers. (Frankly, same goes for Utah State, but that wouldn't keep me from hoping!)
If I got a Stanford offer, there's not much that could keep me from accepting it. Get an Ivy League degree while playing in the P5. I'm not wild about the Bay Area, but that's a minor, and short-term concern.

Re: Updated 2022 Offer
It's not just the Stanford degree. Stanford has a great alumni network that is active in helping place "their own" in a good position to start their career, especially the athletes. While the education and the degree on the wall are great - it's the network of alumni helping you succeed after school where playing for Stanford pays off.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑August 17th, 2021, 2:10 pmCollin Chandler would have to be straight up looney to go to BYU or Utah with that list of offers. Re: Updated 2022 Offer
Exactly. One of my good friends did an MBA at Notre Dame and while his degree is valuable and he learned good things, he could have learned the same things anywhere. It's the Notre Dame alumni network that has REALLY paid off for him.Yossarian wrote: ↑August 17th, 2021, 2:26 pmIt's not just the Stanford degree.
