Re: Mason Falslev
I know someone who has talked to Falslev somewhat recently that is convinced he is going to be a Ute when he gets home. That conversation was before Rylan Jones became an Aggie and these things can change, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.

If Craig and Eric have got ahold of him, he will be tough to pry away from utah.

Having attended both USU and U of U, I can definitively say the general experience at the two is not even comparable...in USU's favor.

I also attended both schools, one fo bachelors degree and one for my masters. The simple difference is that one is a commuter school and the other is not. (I am sure that is obvious which is which). Beyond that, USU offers a personality, a hominess, a community feel that is more personable. At the U you are merely a number. Both of these observations are from 1970’s. So perhaps things have changed.Aggie in Boise wrote: ↑May 18th, 2021, 6:06 pmI have not attended both but I completely agree!3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑May 18th, 2021, 4:44 pmHaving attended both USU and U of U, I can definitively say the general experience at the two is not even comparable...in USU's favor.

Re: Mason Falslev
A work colleague and I both graduated with engineering degrees in the past decade. Mine from USU, his from the U. He very much agreed that at the U he just felt like a number, with professors who didn't care. While he's a Ute and wanted to go there, he indicated that there were a number of times when he wished he'd have done engineering at USU instead.bullshot wrote: ↑May 19th, 2021, 9:56 amI also attended both schools, one fo bachelors degree and one for my masters. Favorite thing about those highlights is the reaction of the opposing coach at 1.30 to him getting an open 3. Awesome stuff.

Re: Mason Falslev
hmm..... my guess is you're perhaps a mission companion or high school friend of Mason and he's asked your opinion on whether or not he should follow through with his commitment to to the Utes now that Larry K. has moved on while the Aggies have had back-to-back NBA draft picks. Being an Aggie fan yourself, you offered your opinion that being an Aggie would be SO much better than having to be a part of that commuter school down south, wear red, and play for a coach that won't even show his arms.
Am I close?

Re: Mason Falslev
It will be interesting to see how name and likeness money will affect someone like Mason. To compete how much money would it take to make a competitive offer. I believe UNLV is paying each player a $500.00 a month Car allowance. Will any of our donors do anything similiar.

It really shouldn't be tough for any dealership in town to be able to work something like that out with a 13 men basketball team.AGGIEFIGHT wrote: ↑October 14th, 2021, 2:00 pmIt will be interesting to see how name and likeness money will affect someone like Mason. Tim Duryea ruined it for him and his closest friend, now an Aggie, pulled him to Utah.stang wrote: ↑May 16th, 2021, 9:46 pmAt one point during his recruitment, Mason was very interested in playing both football and basketball at USU, but it's my understanding that Utah State (understandably, IMO) didn't want him to play both.
As has been mentioned, he's a phenomenal athlete and I really hope we see him in an Aggie uniform one day. He's also a great kid from a great family.
Gary A would've loved to have him play football.

Tim Duryea really was a head scratcher of a hire. I still remember the conversation I had where David Collette told us he would be really disappointed if Tim was hired. Then he left.AggieFBObsession wrote:Tim Duryea ruined it for him and his closest friend, now an Aggie, pulled him to Utah.stang wrote: ↑May 16th, 2021, 9:46 pmAt one point during his recruitment, Mason was very interested in playing both football and basketball at USU, but it's my understanding that Utah State (understandably, IMO) didn't want him to play both.

Tim then went on to absolutely suck.
Smith came in and won the MW with nearly the same roster that Tim sucked with.
What a crazy stupid story for Aggie Basketball.

Re: Mason Falslev
Back to Mason. Never seen him play but he sounds a lot like a guy from my generation; Kendall Youngblood. Turned down a full ride in football to Washington to play BB for the AGs. Would Falslev and Youngblood be comparable in talent?

That makes more sense. Don’t think players can sign until sometime in November. With that said, I believe Falslev will be the next great in local aggies. Can’t wait for him to join the aggie blue.Hunny wrote: ↑October 25th, 2021, 8:30 amOkay well he hasn't officially signed with USU he just decommited from the U.
