I am not sure how much he gets right or wrong but of particular interest is the shocking number of clones coming off the bench in the MW.

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
UNLV at 4 is a bold take, imo. I get that they have the talent, I just don't see that happening. I also think 9 is low for Wyoming.nvspuds wrote: ↑August 2nd, 2021, 10:16 amhttps://collegehoopstoday.com/index.php ... eakdown-2/

I think his top 3 are spot on, though I don't know what order I would put them in.

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
Interesting. He doesn’t list Ashworth on the roster, but does name him as a breakout player.
I think he didn’t mean to list Shulga twice. Ashworth should have been listed where the first Shulga was listed.

Personally, I'd put us #4 ahead of UNLV & Boise and keep the top 3 as he has it.

He made the same mistake for other teams too..
However, I do not put it past the nefarious scientists in Logan to churn out a fully formed clone..Anything to get a competitive edge, you know.
I probably would have cloned Queta, though..

Article does not list Norbert Thelissen for USU. Is he on the roster or not?

1 Queta clone plus 3 Sam Merrill clones. Add in non-clone Justin Bean, and we're looking great!

No clones needed; we mass produce ice cream.

I saw a promo on the facebook about the Aggie Blue Mint Fatboy ice cream sandwich this morning. I need to go out and find some for me. I would even take a clone.

The Aggie Blue Mint Fatboy isn't a new thing, though. I think I first had one at an event at the USU-Kaysville campus a couple years ago. Why is being advertised now like it's a new thing?

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
Too much love for UNLV in my opinion. Getting Hamilton back helps but landing a bunch of unproven P5 bench players is not necessarily a recipe for success, especially with a young and unproven coach.
The top 3 is fine but I'd move USU ahead into 4th and then UNLV down to 7th behind Boise and Fresno.
No mention of Norbert as Yossarian mentioned. Any word on his status? I expect him to have an impact.
Is it just me or does it seem that transfer Will Baker at Nevada is getting a lot of undeserved hype? He may turn out to be a great player but based on what he's shown in his career so far I wouldn't expect him to light the conference on fire in his first year.

Rothstein missed a lot of guys on various rosters..
He doesn't mention returning NV starter Daniel Foster at all.

I agree mostly, but I’d swap CSU and give them the edge over UNR. They both bring back basically everyone and CSU was better last year.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑August 2nd, 2021, 10:49 amPersonally, I'd put us #4 ahead of UNLV & Boise and keep the top 3 as he has it.

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
As an avid watcher of Big 12 basketball, Will Baker sucks and will make no difference at UNR if he plays at all. I would place a $1,000 bet on this right now.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑August 2nd, 2021, 1:08 pmToo much love for UNLV in my opinion. Rothstein has way overvalued UNLV. I think you can make an argument for ranking Boise over us. Preseason, I agree SDSU, CSU, and UNR are clear favorites.

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
I respect your opinion but I respect Alford's more. Nevada was not by any stretch the only school to reach out to Baker when he was transferring.
The Big 12 is way way way way better than the MW which has few productive bigs to contend with. While I don't think Baker will start for the Pack, I do not know what is ceiling is. However, if you look to see how poor Warren Washington's freshman season was you would be amazed what Alford got out of him after a redshirt season.
Bigs usually take awhile. and the Pack has him for 4 years. Washington and Hymes are experienced upper class men now so is isn't imperative that Baker play much right away..
The newcomers to watch are Bramah and Blackshear..Those two should play a lot..

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
This will be the best the conference has been since we have been in it. I think there will be 3-4 tournament teams. CSU will be the best team, followed by Nevada. CSU is going to be legit.

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
It has been a while since the MW put three schools into the NCAA's. I really don't anticipate that happening again anytime soon..We only ever get 2 in when there is a conference tourney upset that gets the automatic bid.
I still think it is SDSU and everybody else but I think CSU will indeed be tough..

I had the Aggie fat boy at an alumni tail gate, but they said back then, it was only a small promo. Maybe just making for the general public now?

The Aggie Blue Mint Fat Boy was only made for USU events. They were never available to the general public. Fat Boy is now releasing them to the general public.

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
Why so much optimism? What did CSU do to improve so much besides bringing back the same players??
SDSU will always be tough because of how they recruit. Nevada is legit, IMO. Utah State will enjoy the underdog role.

Experience is one of the biggest predictors of success in college basketball. CSU was a tourney bubble team last year, and the two teams that finished in front of them lost more roster-wise than they did. CSU has every reason to feel optimistic.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑August 4th, 2021, 2:01 pmWhy so much optimism? What did CSU do to improve so much besides bringing back the same players??

Re: Jon Rothstiein Guesses
Idk how we shut Roddy down without Queta in his way. I know it wasn't one on one, but Queta made Roddy look a fool repeatedly. My biggest concern is that Roddy's just going to have his way in the paint whenever we play.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑August 4th, 2021, 2:46 pmExperience is one of the biggest predictors of success in college basketball. Maybe to a certain extent. However, I don't believe it does them much good besides getting to a certain point before just missing out on the dance. Have they improved their talent that much? Is Roddie an NBA caliber player? I'm not seeing it.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑August 4th, 2021, 2:46 pmExperience is one of the biggest predictors of success in college basketball.
