Summer League
Looks like both Merrill and Queta play today in the Summer League.
The Grizzlies play the Nets at 3 PM MT on ESPN2 and the Kings play the Hornets at 4 PM MT on NBAtv.
The Kings play the Grizzlies on the 13th which should be fun.
Here’s the full Summer League schedule and box scores.

Re: Summer League
Just saw that former BSU star Derrick Alston was a -26 in only 15 minutes in a two-point overtime loss lmao. How is that even possible?

Sam struggled today. 16 minutes and 3 points on 1-5 shooting. I was hoping he could get more minutes. I wish I knew what Memphis’s plans are for Merrill.

Re: Summer League
He had the best +/- on the team by quite a bit, although his other stays weren't impressive

Re: Summer League
One of the "shots" he took was desperation 3/4 court heave at the the end of the third. Good for Sam that he didn't wait until after the buzzer, but it didn't help his numbers.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑August 11th, 2021, 7:27 pmSam struggled today. 16 minutes and 3 points on 1-5 shooting. Re: Summer League
Just in case anyone is unaware, the Kings and Grizzlies are playing right now on ESPNU.
The first quarter would be well worth re-watching (11:30 am eastern/9:30 mountain on NBATV tomorrow) for all Aggie fans. Sam had 7 points while Neemi had 3 blocks and a steal.

Re: Summer League
Sam played good D on Davion Mitchell when they matched him up there (not every time).
This is terrible team basketball - iso all the time.

Re: Summer League
Neemy changes the game every time he's in. Davion is proving me right. He's a future star. Reminds me of "the glove".brownjeans wrote: ↑August 13th, 2021, 8:03 pmSam played good D on Davion Mitchell when they matched him up there (not every time).

Neemy had the best plus/minus of anyone.
Sam needs to move his feet better on D. His teammates don't know how to pass. Aldama (sp?) is gawd awful. That's a draft pick bust. You Jazz fans should be happy that you traded that pick.

Re: Summer League
I watched the whole game. Sam is so solid and plays great team basketball, but if he doesn't look for his more he will be out of the NBA. It pains me to say that, but he has got to be greedy and show off that pullup and crossover three pointer.

Re: Summer League
I agree. He had a lot of great passes, I thought he did a good job against Mitchell. He looked a lot better tonight I hope he makes the roster.
It was awesome to see him and Queta play tonight.

Re: Summer League
Queta was solid. He looked a bit winded and tired at times but I guess that's what you get when it is just repeated running end to end with all the jacking up of shots. He tried to post up a few times but guys don't even look down low or act like they know what a post entry pass is. He was still a force on D but he did get pushed around a few times on the glass.
Merrill stuggled outside of the first 5 points of the game. He was overwhelmed by Mitchell's D and fouled repeatedly on the other end trying to defend himself. The game just looked too fast for him most of the night. He did have a couple of really pretty passes/assists after drawing a double team but he also had far too many turnovers. I can't see a scenario where he sticks in the league. His game is methodical and played at a pace that just doesn't match up with the current NBA. He would do well in Euroleague.

Re: Summer League
He's got two summer league games left, if the guys that are solidly on the team sit. He needs to play the two games of his life to stay in the league. It sucks, as I thought that the Bucks were a really good fit for him.

Re: Summer League
I thought Merrill looked like the best player on Memphis's squad. Played smart basketball, good D, should've had about 10 assists if his teammates could've hit the broad side of a barn. Didn't shoot as well as he normally does and took two ill advised long 3's that bricked, but overall I felt like he had a good game. He was the player interviewed between quarters and the announcers were saying his name all night.

How often have we seen such Aggie “reppin’”?
