Pre-Season Scrimmages
Pre-Season Scrimmages
According to Jeff Goodman in this article, we're scrimmaging at SMU tomorrow. They came in at #61 in the CBS ranking of all D1 teams that was posted here recently (just behind us at #58).

That is is awesome. Should be a really good test to see where the team is at. Not sure how much information we will get out of it, but like that the coach is challenging his team in a scrimmage situation.

Since they won't pay us for real, maybe the utes would agree to a pretend game??

It’s a super secret scrimmage so I am assuming will not be televised.
But I would appreciate if someone in the know could unofficially tell us the unofficial details of what happens.

Yo, HJNews, we need to go all Wichita Eagle on this scrimmage.

Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
Unfortunately with scrimmages like these, literally only players, coaches and table crew personnel are allowed in. Not even recruits or players families. So unless an assistant coach or an SID or someone of the sort wants to leak info, I wouldn’t expect to hear much.

Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
Jeff Goodman reported scores from a couple of the scrimmages on Twitter, but not ours.stang wrote: ↑October 17th, 2021, 9:15 pmUnfortunately with scrimmages like these, literally only players, coaches and table crew personnel are allowed in. I am sure some insiders on here know what went down, but may be exercising discretion in not saying anything.

Their 247 board has 4 posts about Utah State but you have to pay to read them.

The only substantive comment on the SMU board is is that everyone on SMU got equal minutes.

I get the impression that we basically played starters vs. starters and we won by 10. And 2nd team played 2nd team and we held on by 2.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 6:17 pmThat is awesome news!! Do you know the score or any other info on players that stood out?

So the second team was out scored by 8? Or they reset the score to 0 and the second team won by 2?aggies22 wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 6:35 pmI get the impression that we basically played starters vs. starters and we won by 10. Looks like the preseason coaches vote had SMU as 3rd in the AAC. Going to SMU and winning is a good sign for a team with a new coach, new players, in the middle of implementing a new offensive and defensive system.
