I hope to at least see all new players play a little bit. We missed the blue/white scrimmage and most of us havent had a chance to see any of the new guys. I don’t even know what most of the new guys even look like.

(On that note, has there been any releases documents that have pictures of all the players for this year? If so, could someone direct me to it?)

Unless your in the Spectrum I don't think you'll see much of anything. The game doesn't appear to have any streaming options.

Is Eytle-Rock really 6'4"/225? That is a solid build for a MWC guard. How are his post moves and footwork?

It looks like we're all stuck listening to the dolcet tones of one Scotty G for the exhibition.

I feel like these should at least be streamed on the MW website or Stadium.

I know that Smith didn't like there too be any footage of the exhibition games so he didn't allow them to be streamed. I wonder if Odom is the same.

Scotty g comments yesterday. I wish he’d go into why he thinks we can be special or if it is just radio guy preseason speak.

This team is going to be balanced. You never know which dude is going to breakout each night. I believe this team has the opportunity to be very much like the team that beat Ohio State.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more of the new guys and less of the more experienced dudes. Games are great to see just where a player stands in their development.

I think this is correct. There's no superstar like Nemi and Sam, but we've got three battle-tested all-conference level players in the starting lineup (Bean, Horvath, and Eytle-Rock), returning playable experience (Miller, Ashworth, Dorius, Shulga, Bairstow), an intriguing Pac-12 transfer (Jones) and intriguing newcomers that are reportedly ready to play (Thelissen and Hamoda). It remains to be seen what the ceiling of this team is, but the floor is high just based on the quantity and quality of upperclassmen we have (which is probably the single greatest predictor of how good a team will be). IMO, whether we are 5th or top 2 in the conference will come down to how well the games of Horvath and Eytle-Rock transfer to the MW level, and how well we defend. This team should have no problem scoring the ball, but I worry about our ability to defend most teams off the dribble.

Excited to start getting a look (well, a listen) at what we have tonight!

No masks required only if you want to wear one.

We'll be good, but none of these guys will play in the NBA, except for maybe Zee and I'm not expecting him to see the court much this year. You need NBA level talent to win in the tournament. Our best chance was in 2020 when we had 2 NBA players but we all know what happened there.

I'm excited about Eytle-Rock though because I really enjoy watching players that play the way he does.

If Zee is truly an NBA level talent I would expect to see him on the court A LOT this season.

That would be an interesting research project. How many NBA players played less than half of their teams' minutes as freshmen in college (excluding injury time)? If any, how many of them went to non-Power conference schools? I think that would be a very short list.

I seem to recall our last two NBA level players playing quite a bit as freshman. Zee will be playing a ton of minutes if he’s an NBA player.

That said, “NBA player” is not at all a fair expectation for the first D1 Bahraini player ever.

I disagree. Not every kid that's NBA talent plays a lot during his freshman year. I'm sure it's more common than not, but I wouldn't put that kind of pressure on the kid. Nor would I take anything away from him at this point not having seen him play in person in any significant minutes by saying that he's not.

Case in point. Zapala is an NBA talent and he rarely saw the floor last year. :sarcasm:

Now where is the sarcasm emoji when I need it? Smith kept saying Zapala is an NBA talent at least and if he is we'll have a case study. If Zapala still doesn't get any time with a different coach and with Queta gone then my observations will be correct that he is nowhere near an NBA talent.
