15-79 in mw play

Post by slcagg » January 15th, 2022, 9:06 pm

Under 20% 3 pt shooting. We keep this up we will not win many more games.

Leading to conference games we were shooting a hair over 40%. Wow.

Nope. It’s not going to get any better with SDSU and Boise up next. Maybe they can get Fresno, I’m not sure though. Could be a long January.

At least we got the Myrtle Beach Classic, they can’t take that away from us.

And they are open threes. It's not like they are just jacking it up.

It is the achilles heal of this team. They are not settling and shooting 40 three points shots a game they are just not falling. Most of them are good looks, but we are just not hitting them. Prior to conference play we were 39%, but in conference we are only 20%. It is the difference between the Aggies being 4-0 in conference instead of 1-3. Even with the shooting issues the Aggies have been within a possession in all 3 losses.

Turns out, the rest of our team sucks worse at shooting three pointers than Miller. Who would have thought?

Yup even shooting 30% we would have won all 4 games.

15-79 is under 19% - almost 5% worse than the poorest 3-point shooting team in America, Portland State. Even hitting our season average would give us 3 more three pointers on average in each of those four games.

Fix that one problem (I don't know how one does that) and a myriad of frustrations would go away.
