Devon Malcolm

Post by nswaggie » January 22nd, 2022, 4:45 pm

Just watched this kid play the first half against South Eugene. Kid can jump out of the gym. Would love to get a kid like this at USU. Only has offer from Portland so far. Come on Odom make it happen.

We could really use some athleticism. Hoping we can land Elijah Price too.

While both of these guys could be great players, it would be nice just once to secure a commitment from a guy being pursued by peer schools. I can’t remember the last time that happened.

Seems that’s asking for far too much. We’ve beaten our conference peers and the occasional P5 school in football. I think the last time we secured a commitment for a basketball player with a peer offer was Bairstow and the last one with a P5 offer was McEwen (okay, I lied, looks like Dallin Grant had an offer from Stanford — I am excited about him).

It’s always a bit terrifying when you’re the only school offering someone.

I am not sure how much we are pursuing high school athletes at this time. I think Odom is going to go after transfers, maybe JCs.

I know that it has been discussed that the new staff has been made aware of Nigel John. But have we ever officially offered him? This is a position of need that has been made quite obvious with us getting dominated by Ike and Armus. Or have we offered anyone else to play 5?

I don't think we've offered Nigel.
