CSU SDSU

Post by QuackAttackAggie » February 13th, 2024, 7:36 pm

SDSU in foul trouble after ten minutes. Can you imagine?

CSU came out hot and hasn't stopped yet. 30-19. Seems that a csu win is great for us so hopefully they can keep it up.

Unless they can't freaking score.
Analytics tell me I should be rooting for CSU but my gut says an SDSU win would help us more.

I think csu has the harder schedule remaining and is more likely to lose more games

Yeah.
I guess I like getting them in the Spectrum, and I like the fact that I'll be there for that game.

A starter for csu was helped off the floor with a bad ankle twist to the locker room. And the refs are not great especially this half.

CSU just crumbled and the Aztecs went absolutely bully ball in the 2nd half. Not sure how severe the Cartier injury is.

CSU got out rebounded 46-24 by SDSU. It’s not like SDSU shot the lights out or anything but they owned the boards and shot more free throws. We need to follow a similar game plan on Saturday.

CSU had 1 point in the final 9 minutes and 6 points the final 16 minutes. I don’t know that I have ever seen such ooor scoring for that long of a stretch by a team that wasn’t DIii playing a D1 team

ESPN's box score for last night shows that CSU started 2 forwards and three guards, Cartier being one of the forwards. They also show 3 players off the bench that played double digit minutes - all listed as guards. As well as 4 more players - all -guards- for some mopup minutes at the end. Checked back and it was basically the same thing in the game in Logan.

Have they really had their success playing two forwards? Or are some of their guards mislabelled?

They would be in a world of hurt if they only have two dependable bigs and one of those two is out for a spell. (Their message board hopes Cartier will return for the tournament.)

When I read the box score, I saw this...and couldn't believe it. Just incredible. I'm a hockey fan...it's like it was 5 on 3 the whole second half!

I seem to remember USU had a run of 30, or so, points one game against Idaho. It was a similar situation. I would guess Gamefaqsaggie would be able to confirm and provide dates and details.

Their Fort Collins newspaper calls Mbemba, Scott and Cartier their bigs. No idea why their roster would call a 6'7" Mbemba a guard. He's definitely a big. But without Cartier, they would be down to 2.

Mbemba is 250 lbs so definitely not a guard. He fouled out in only 11 minutes of play at SDSU. CSU not having Cartier is going to help us a ton and should make it easier for us to get Scott in foul trouble.
