Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
So that tweet is the only reference I see of Jackson Grant in the portal. He's not on any of the portal trackers.

I sure hope it’s true. Waste of a roster spot currently.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑April 4th, 2024, 8:37 amSo that tweet is the only reference I see of Jackson Grant in the portal. He's not on any of the portal trackers.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
Maybe, it's the other way around and this one is right, and the reports that Dallin hit the portal are confused and it was always Jackson...
That would be cool.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
Dallin could never compete at the mountain west level. He didn't even have a scholarship this last season. He is awful. There is no way on earth calhoun would want him to play on anything but the scout team.Aglicious wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2024, 6:56 pmA guy that USU sent tons of love to as a HS player, stuck with him through a mission, and has Aggie family ties. Hasn't played a minute but enters the portal?
I have to believe some of these were either Sprinkle advising Calhoun to move on from them or else these players are not buying what this coach is selling during initial interviews. I really hope it's not the former.
Maybe in Dallin's case he realized last year that the MWC is beyond the level he can compete at?

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
I hope it's both Grants that have hit the portal. If we have to deal with the agony of star players leaving, we deserve to get the excitement of possibly filling a roster spot with an impact transfer.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
Jackson Grant makes sense because he transferred to play more but not good enough to play MWC basketball.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
I would guess that Dallin Grant is in the portal due the fact that he committed to Craig Smith era Aggies then on his mission Ryan Odom was the coach then Sprinkle is the coach then Sprinkle leaves. It is awkward before playing a single regular season to have 4 different head coaches to deal with. I do hope Dallin Grant comes back.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
Seems like Montana state or similar would be good choice for him. Originally headed to MSU before Sprinkle came here
Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
Can we not do this? There’s no need to trash players. Particularly the ones who got little or no playing time. It’s fine to voice your opinion on a scholarship opening but no need to call them “awful”.twentytwocactus wrote: ↑April 4th, 2024, 9:27 amDallin could never compete at the mountain west level. Thanks for your time with the team, glad you’re moving onto a better situation for you and the team. Everyone played a role in our success this year, even the scout team.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
Since joining the boards, twentytwocactus seems to have a lot of comments on the players from a closer perspective than many posters. Sounds like some prejudices are coming through.apo wrote: ↑April 4th, 2024, 1:17 pmCan we not do this? There’s no need to trash players. Particularly the ones who got little or no playing time. I think you underestimate our ability to blame.Aggie37 wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2024, 8:20 pmDallin was a preferred walk-on. He was not on scholarship and Ian was the last scholarship player we brought in. New coach comes in and can’t promise him anything and so he is now looking to an SUU, UT Tech, etc. to play ball and get his schooling paid for. Can’t blame him for leaving and hope he gets his opportunity.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2024, 8:08 pmAbout the only thing that makes sense on Dallin is that he was counseled out or just wanted to pursue a more clear path to playing time elsewhere. Wish him well either way.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
In my opinion, Sakho made the right decision. Sakho wants to play, but we have Johnson, Templin, transfer portal yet to play out, and etc. Sakho had fallen down on the depth chart, and Sakho was being challenged at times by Templin. He had good moments, but he was a bench player that was in the process of becoming a zero-minute player.

Some of these backups that are good at basketball at big name schools should consider schools like Utah State. It is a bummer that there is a zero chance at getting Mady.

If I had to guess, he is going to Utah.
He was a Craig Smith recruit.

Re: USU Transfer Portal Tracker
If Martinez is back, it means a few things.
1) We are one of the best teams for transfer portal players who want to win.
2) Scheduling big non-conference games is in play. (Landing a big early season tournament is something that is going to be on the table.)
3) Sprinkle is toast at Washington.
