No News is Good News?
The deadline for entry into the transfer portal is May 1st, something to keep an eye on for Josh or anyone else who hasn't already entered.
Not hearing that Osobor has already transferred bodes well for us IMO. He has until May 31 to remove his name from the NBA draft, which by then, most of the bigger schools will (probably) have already filled out their rosters.
So let's hope he either re-commits to USU quickly or drags out the NBA evaluation process. And who knows maybe Ian won't get the big east coast offer he wants and decides to stay.

I only want players who want to be here, if he WANTS to stay, then "Great" I hope he does! If he doesn't WANT to stay, I hope he moves on, and then, in that case, best of luck.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑April 10th, 2024, 10:28 amThe deadline for entry into the transfer portal is May 1st, something to keep an eye on for Josh or anyone else who hasn't already entered.

The twitter account for the AD randomly and without explanation tweeted out a pic of Ian yesterday.

It's not so black and white. I'm sure he'd be happy staying. But it's smart to play the field. It's good though that he didn't already have an under the table deal lined up, if he did, he'd have (probably) already bounced by now. It give his friends and teammates more time to convince him to stay.ViAggie wrote: ↑April 10th, 2024, 10:40 amI only want players who want to be here, if he WANTS to stay, then "Great" I hope he does! Re: No News is Good News?
I'd love Great back, hope he does. Regardless, it would be best for USU if he makes a decision sooner rather than later. If he stays, will make Calhoun's recruiting pitch easier - come join 3 MWC starters to defend the title.
If he doesn't come back, then Calhoun can recruit bigs and offer starting minutes.

The only way anyone goes with him is if Darius Brown gets that RUMORED extra season of eligibility.

Re: No News is Good News?
Man, that says another about the relationship he has with his players. Smith brought players with him from South Dakota(maybe just recruits but that was a different time) at to Utah, odom brought players from UMBC and to VCU. In football GA brought players to Wisconsin, and from Oregon State and Utah. Wells took players to Texas Tech. BA brought players from Arkansas State. Every coach brings players now...
What is going on with Sprinkle? Starting to wonder if we would have seen more guys hit the portal if he stuck around than with him leaving.

I don't think so either. That's why I said RUMORED as I think it's just that, a rumor and an odd one at that.

I get that it's probably not going to happen, but how in the hell is Darius Brown playing another year even a remote possibility? The dude has played five FULL seasons plus seven games his freshman year. He's played 164 games (ONE HUNDRED SIXTY FOUR) in his career.

How would Darius get another year of eligibility, what’s the pitch? He’s used his Covid year, and Med Red Shirt year and played 4 other years. He’s done. How do they think he has another year?

And that’s honestly not out of the question. And at that point, college sports or over. And frankly there is probably a way to challenge that inandytheaggie wrote: ↑April 10th, 2024, 12:32 pmMaybe he threatens to take them to court and the NCAA folds?Bullnamed_gus wrote:How would Darius get another year of eligibility, what’s the pitch? Court. @StanfordAggie is a lot smarter than me, and he probably knows the law better than I do. But if the free transfer thing stuck. The NCaA clearly has no power. Then who is to say the NCAA can limit How many years you can play?
If the powers that be aren’t careful this is the end game and if that happens college sports are over.

Would it end college football/basketball or just morph into an unofficial minor pro league that would still utilize the name and facilities of the local university in an attempt to retain as much fan interest as possible.Bullnamed_gus wrote: ↑April 10th, 2024, 12:37 pmAnd that’s honestly not out of the question. Re: No News is Good News?
I think no news is good news. I don't think you have to announce you're staying another year or that one is coming back, who never left. I don't get that. So I think we are in better shape than expected. The lack of information is troubling in itself, however I'm inclined to stick with the present facts in front of us.

I don’t think anyone is lining up to watch dudes play college sports for 10 years just because they play for the team my favorite school sponsors.Pacobag wrote: ↑April 10th, 2024, 1:12 pmWould it end college football/basketball or just morph into an unofficial minor pro league that would still utilize the name and facilities of the local university in an attempt to retain as much fan interest as possible.Bullnamed_gus wrote: ↑April 10th, 2024, 12:37 pmAnd that’s honestly not out of the question. I’ve been saying it as well. As long as they are “students” why not? If Sam decides to come back to school to get another degree, then he could play. Everything else is arbitrary at this point.aggies22 wrote:Me and USUBLUE have been joking about this for about a month now. Why the hell not at this point?
