Mark Madsen just signed an extension, is making $2.4 million and has like a $6 million buyout.

BYU certainly has the money, but we'll see if they're willing to part with it...and if Madsen wants BYU.
The Cougars have unlimited money and coaches are way less expensive than shopping malls. If they don't get Madsen who will they hire?

After Mark Madsen, the LDS coaching pool is as shallow as a kiddie pool.

They might be screwed with their limitations.
Limitations? BYU has unlimited money. Remember, you can buy anything with money.

Seriouslly...

Cummard is an assistant for their Women team...

Lewis is a high school coach now.

Burgess is probably the best bet but has zero head coaching experience.

Dave Rice is probably the best one for them.

Either him or a current assistant or the former Portland State coach They are going to need Masen for the Big 12.

No chance. The ONLY reason Pope got a sniff is because he played there (and reportedly has a strong relationship with the AD).

If the rich Kentucky boosters are anything like the ones online we might see an uprising over this. Kentucky fans are going insane.

Pope wanted to undercut sprinkle at WA and ended up getting a better gig lol. And probably more money.

I think Pope is a good coach and will do OK at KY. I hope BYU crashes and burns.

Spencer Johnson coming here would make sense.
1) Johnson has only 1 year left, and this is his only chance to play with his brother.
2) Pope left at a bad time for BYU, so it is chaos at BYU.

Yeah funny how that worked. Pope isn't the worst possible hire, but definitely a step down if you look at what Pitino, tubby and calipari had accomplished before taking the Kentucky job compared to pope. Good luck to him. Don't really care about Kentucky either way and hope BYU gets a downgrade

Holy cow. The Kentucky fans thought that they were getting Dan Hurley, Jay Wright, or Billy Donovan... And they ended up with Mark Pope? What a world we live in...

As an aside, wouldn't it be hilarious if BYU got a few LDS general authorities to give Chris Burgess a call and tell him that the Church needs him at BYU? Am I the only one who is old enough to remember the mini-scandal involving Roger Reid when Burgess signed with Duke out of high school? (Although if they are going to use the "it is a calling; the Church needs you" card to try to get a coach, I would have to think that they call Mark Madsen first.)

BYU is toast. This opens up the Salt Lake and Utah County pipeline.
BYU's roster
7 players from Utah (all of them from Salt Lake and Utah County)
2 players from Wasatch Academy
2 players from Idaho plus 1 recruit from Idaho

I like the idea of Burgess getting hired at byu because it instantly makes Utah worse, and who knows how well Burgess will do as a head coach. It will probably mean that both schools struggle.
