The games we have the least to most room to afford to lose
I can agree with the tune that you need to focus on one game at a time and it's never good to lose, but it's reality we're not going to go undefeated, and we have gotten a few wins we weren't supposed to so we have SOME breathing room. Still, there are some games we can afford to lose more than others.
I'll start with our next game at Nevada. Before the 3 game gauntlet, we would have been happy if we were told we would get 2 wins, but now that we have 2 wins, we don't want to stop at 2. Still dropping this game wouldn't be catastrophic as it would likely be a Q1 game. Boise, Nevada and San Diego are all top 75 making our road games against them Q1 games, and as long as they don't lose at home to anyone except each other us, maybe also New Mexico, should be able to remain top 75.
I'll next say that the teams we inexplicably can NOT afford to lose to even on the road are Air Force and Fresno State as they are unlikely to climb high enough to make even the road games a Q3 game. The road game at San Jose would be less catastrophic being a Q3 game but it would take at least another big win to offset the damage that would come from that. Then of course the home game against them is one we can not afford to drop.
Wyoming is on the edge of the road game being a Q2/Q3 game. If they get some wins, can climb high enough to make our game at their place a Q2 game. UNLV and Colorado State are pretty firmly in the ground of our home games against them being Q3 and our away games being Q2. IMO, we can't afford to lose to either of them at home, and can't go 0-3 in the road games against Wyoming, CSU and UNLV, but we don't need to go 3-0 either.
