Club Baseball World Series
If I am reading the web page correctly, the USU Club Baseball team defeated UC San Diego in their first game 9-3.

Re: Club Baseball World Series
The Aggies are the 5th seed and they beat the #4 seed Univ. Of San Diego on Saturday. They play top seed Georgia today. Here's the double-elimination bracket.
http://www.clubbaseball.org/brackets.asp
The numbers 2, 3, and 4 seeds all lost their first games.

Re: Club Baseball World Series
That bracket confuses me. It says the winner of game 11 plays the loser of game 11, and the winner of game 12 plays the loser of game 12. That makes games 11 and 12 seemingly meaningless, and you play another rematch game directly after those two games? Can someone enlighten me?

Re: Club Baseball World Series
It's because of the double elimination format. If the team from the "loser" bracket wins, there is a rematch. This is to force them to have to beat the team who has won all the way through twice to advance to the championship game. If the team from the winning bracket wins, the rematch isn't necessary (You'll notice the ** indicating that the game will only be played if necessary).

Re: Club Baseball World Series
There's an asterisk by the game. The Texas Tech/Georgia game winner in Game #9 (tomorrow) will play USU on Tuesday in Game #11. If USU wins that game (going 3-0), USU moves ahead as the Game #13 winner to the championship game. If USU loses to the Game #9 winner, then uSU would be the Game #9 "loser" and the same two teams would play again for the right to advance to the championship game.treesap32 wrote:That bracket confuses me. Re: Club Baseball World Series
USU defeats Texas Tech 2-1 tonight! The Aggies advance to the championship game. Since the tournament is double elimination, and Texas Tech had already lost their first round game, that's it for them. If the Aggies had lost tonight, they would have had a repeat game against Texas Tech tomorrow. Tonight's win earns they a bye tomorrow.

They already had a day off tomorrow. The championship game was Thursday regardless. The other bracket has a rematch tomorrow due to the double elimination part.LKGates wrote:USU defeats Texas Tech 2-1 tonight! The Aggies advance to the championship game. Hopefully it's true double elimination carrying through to the finals. If so, we get two cracks at it.

Re: Club Baseball World Series
No Sap. If we had lost tonight, both Texas Tech and us would have had one loss each. We would have faced them again tomorrow. You're right, the championship game was always scheduled for Thursday, but the bracket had programmed in the possibility of a game tomorrow on our side of the bracket. We eliminated that game by being undefeated.treesap32 wrote:They already had a day off tomorrow. The championship game was Thursday regardless. Re: Club Baseball World Series
Good point. I stand corrected. I thought you were talking about them pushing the championship out due to the other side of the bracket needing an extra game. But sometimes my reading comprehension isn't the greatest. Especially after midnight.LKGates wrote:No Sap. If we had lost tonight, both Texas Tech and us would have had one loss each. Re: Club Baseball World Series
Colorado State defeated Pittsburgh 6-5 tonight. So that's it. Tomorrow night we will play a team that has won 6 of the last 8 NCBA world series. Of course, this year we had a better seed than them. It helps that we had a bye tonight, on the strength of an undefeated run to this point. Keep the baseball aggies in your thoughts tonight and tomorrow.

Re: Club Baseball World Series
Is there anyone else feeling that a modicum of justice has been exacted to compensate for the travesty of last year's football loss at the hands of a CSU football team the Aggies mostly manhandled last fall?

Don't be so sure. He'd give the ball to Canseco and tell him to close this one out for us. Even if Rivera was well rested in the pen.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:Not even Baldwin could blow this one.
