I started on Scout in 2007 because 3rdGenAggie told me about the site and mentioned a post that happened to be about my wife serving one of my fellow Aggies at a restaurant but I rarely if ever posted on Scout where I was known as 120fireguy. I joined USUFans just a few days after it officially went live and I've been AggieFirefighter ever since.. This site blows anything else I've seen away..

Seriously, I have never seen a better college fan site. And I have been to quite a few of them. This blows most of them out of the water.

I joined the scout site back in 2005 but lurked for awhile before that. I moved over here one of the first days it was live. Some of the prolific posters from scout didn't seem to make their way over here...what happened to empallje?...I think that's how he spelled it. That guy posted a ton. Aggie Sports seemed like he posted more back then too...other than the Tom Cruise avatar he contributed good stuff. I was there for some of the RRGinSLC times...he was a lightning rod. Glad to have these boards as they have ramped up my fandom and kept me in the loop.

Edit...I used to go by the user name AgAlum04 but changed it when I came to this board.

Good ol' USUBlue.com...I think it lasted a whole 2 weeks before switching over to USUFans. Archive.org didn't even have a chance to pick it up.

I, WAaggieFan, do hereby declare, that being descended from a long line of frontiersmen and outdoor types I finally found wisdom and ended my sojourn in Cache valley in 1997. I embarked for the great northwest beginning in Missoula and gradually working my way further west through Coeur d'Alene and into central Washington. As a result, I was no longer able to attend Aggie FB/BB games or listen on the radio with any sort of regularity. Sure there was the Humanitarian Bowl but TV coverage was non existent. I soon tired of trying to find coverage in the UT papers online and the dumpster fire that was Aggie FB started burning. I pretty much tuned out.
Then one day in 2010 an acquaintance asked what I thought of the BYU game. I told him I didn't really care but he informed me the Aggies had walloped them in Romney. I was intrigued and began attempting to follow them again.
Tough to do out of state. In 2011 I discovered tunein radio and began listening to every game. As the result of a google search I stumbled on this board. With information things took off again. I lurked for a year then signed up in 2012.
This board is one of the two greatest things that have connected me back to Aggie athletics. The other was my discovery of the Front Row Show. I am indebted to both.

I raise this topic because I was thinking the other day about what we Aggie fans would do without this forum, and then realized that the message boards have now been around so long that many posters don't know anything else.

I was first introduced to the Aggie message boards back in 1998 at a Big Blue Club luncheon in Salt Lake City by a poster formerly known at TheToad. I remember being intrigued by the existence of the message board and that, during those first few years, there was a relatively large amount of information leaked onto the prior site from the athletics department.

I have gone by "dogie" without interruption for 16 years now. I am #45 among the most frequent posters: memberlist.php?first_char=&mode=&sk=d&sd=d#memberlist.

Those with better memories than mine might be able to remind me (and others) of the history of the message boards and their names as they came and went. I think the first one was sponsored by the Ogden Standard Examiner, but that was before I was around.
Apparently I am #30 in terms of most posts on this board. I am sure in recent years I have dropped out of the top 25 and maybe even top 10, as my posting has trailed off significantly from the first few years of this website.

I've posted as Rabidchild ever since I came across the first scout message board or wherever it was located back in probably about 1998 or 1999. I went from there to trueaggies.com, to this site. I too remember the early days when there was a whole lot more insider information posted, and a lot less "internet tough guy" debates or "TWSS" humor cluttering up the place. In particular I remember someone who posted under the handle "OldMain" or something with Old Main in the name, who always knew exactly what was going on inside the program.

I first stumbled upon the Scout board in 2003. I don't remember when I joined, but it came after reading for a little while. Perhaps it was late 2003 or sometime in 2004 that I signed up. I've contributed little and enjoyed a lot.

I don't remember the year, but I started out in the scout forum as longaggie, then mind in the gutter putz, made fun of my name, so I changed it.

No, you are wrong. I just know that.

Anyhow, I followed the scout site since 2001 or so for recruiting and Knute Lombardi articles, but I never knew there was a message board.

On 12/22/2004, I joined the board when I saw a USU grad student follow Utefans. (Did his undergrad there. ) I went searching for a USU site and found the scout board. I have had times that were more active than others, I am currently on a bit of a hiatus.

The really interesting thing is the mood and changes. For the first few years it was a basketball centric board dominated by scheduling talk. Football was depressing for most of the Brent Guy years. Then it turned into a conference realignment form, and the MWC was often public enemy number one. Then black Thursday happened which was one of the darkest days in recent history.

Finally football broke through, the MW came calling and we haven't looked back. Today BB, while still relevant to fans, does not generate excitement like it once did. A scheduling thread doesn't go on for pages on end like it once did, because of the changed dynamic of the program.

It has been an interesting place to see for the past decade.

I found the Scout board in 2007 after moving to Iowa. NEIowa convinced me to join the board (as AMBmello) in March 2008 after the NIT loss at Illinois State. I moved over to this board once it started and agree that it's waaaayyy better than the Scout board. I don't post much, but browse quite a bit.

I don't even remember how I found out about this board. I probably stumbled across it in a Google search. I joined some time in 2010...I didn't like USU football at the time because the still sucked; I joined for the basketball forum. Glad to read all the comments on here. You guys are hilarious.

I'm definitely still a n00b. I joined last year sometime and don't have a ton of posts. But, I have to agree that this site blows away anything that I've seen for other universities. I don't check out many other boards beyond our conference mates and occasional non-conference opponents when someone links to other boards. But, this site blows the ones I've seen away hands down. Thanks to all you's guys who make it happen.

AH, I never realized that I had a "conversion" - either that or I forgot that you joined because of that conversation in Bloomington. I do remember our discussion that night, but I doubt I'd recognize you if we met on the street.

I've been posting since 1998 on TrueAggies.com. Back then we got a ton of insider info, which was very juicy since Bell and Pugmire kept screwing things up. I don't post much anymore, it's just a bunch of people whining nowadays. I remember a poster named OldMainAggie who always had great stuff to say. I remember RRG, god he was annoying... I remember when Stew couldn't do anything wrong and when Utah talked to him and he told dr hill to stick it.

My first post was in early 2011. There was some previous website that I used to lurk at, but never posted. I haven't posted a ton over the year (361), but read way more than I write. Having moved to the East Coast, USUFans was one of those things that kept me going when I was about to give up on USU sports because of lack of access and I was so depressed about the sorry state of football and conference purgatory.

I first posted on the scout.com forum as the naively named "aggiehopeful" (as in, I hope we don't suck again this year) prior to the 2007 season. In August of 2008 I contrived the much more iconic persona that is BigBlueDart, long may his flatulence flame.

Summer of 1998. One of a few Aggie posters from Seattle at the time.

Troutputz and SVEN

by troutputz
Yes, this once long haired leaping known, began as Troutputz, but soon needed an alter-ego so SVEN came talking to me. You know SVEN is like the computer that see's all on the show "Person of Interest" SVEN talks to me all the time, so I listen and obey his wishes from time to time.

Remember the Sign said: Long Haired Freaky people need not apply, so I tucked my hair under my hat and went in to ask them why?
They said I think you are a fine upstanding young man, so I took my hat off my head and said, uh, imagine that me, working for you?

That's what SVEN said to me anyway!

Look to the right, what does it say. No seriously, I'm on tapatalk and have no idea.

I was late to the party, but have tried to make up for it by posting zero inside info and cracking jokes at any opportunity. For every post I make there are 3 or 4 that don't make it past draft form.
