I just discovered these on Netflix. I watched Once Brothers last night- the story of the Yugoslavian basketball team from the late 80s- early 90s with Vlade Divac and Drazen Petrovic, along with Toni Kukoc and others. This was a great watch and it helped bring to life the war in the Balkans from the 90s. The friendship between Divac and Petrovic was shattered because of the war.

I've also seen the one about Eddie Aikau- the famous Hawaiian surfer. Also a pretty good one. The one to watch is Once Brothers, though if you were only watching one.

Anyone else seen any 30 for 30 films and which ones would you recommend?

Broke is a good one. I would also recommend The Two Escobar's, Brian and the Boz, and The U. They are all good.

My favorites are Pony Excess, Bo Knows, and Trojan War.

The Reggie Miller and Duke Lacrosse ones are great, too.

You Don't know Bo, I Hate Christian Laettner, The Prince of Pennsylvania, Big Shot and Hillsborough.
Hillsborough can be hard to watch because of some of the visuals but it is worth seeing, especially if you haven't heard much about the story.

I love 30 for 30.

The two Escobar's is probably my favorite. Once brothers is great. I liked the one about the cubs fan who interfered with the fly ball. I forget the name, maybe Catching Hell?

They are all pretty good. Episodes I may not have been very interested in kept me entertained. I agree with the Two Escobars being my favorite.

Ive seen most of them and have enjoyed them all for the most part. Theres been a few like the two escobars and the one on the ussr hockey team that lost that i had a hard time with because they had alot of subtitles and not alot of english. Ive got the one on the penny shaq teams from last week on my dvr that i need to get to. But I agree with all the ones listed and would add Elway to Marino as well. Also if you go to their website they have a bunch of 30 for 30 shorts that are 5 to 30 minutes that are pretty good. Theres one called posterized on Shawn Bradley that I enjoyed

I liked Pony Express and the Reggie Miller one. Funny Little Game (?) is interesting, if one is interested in the origins of fantasy sports. (I watched because it's Dan Okrent, who was my favorite commentator in Ken Burns' Baseball.) Can't remember what others I watched, but they're always interesting. As a Liverpool fan, I dunno if I could sit through Hillsborough.

I wasn't a fan of the Red Sox one about the comeback vs the Yankees. I didn't like the format of Bill Simmons and another guy just shooting the bull in a bar the whole time.

I'm pretty sure there is a Karl Malone one as well. Most these are outstanding especially the football ones.

There are only a handful I haven't seen.

My favorites:

The U (the best of all of the CFB 30 for 30s. The U Part II was not as good)
Small Potatoes: Who Killed the USFL is interesting and a story that most don't know about, which was the point of the series in the first place.
Once Brothers. Like most have said, it is excellent.
Elway to Marino. As a Broncos fan, I was really interested in it, but I think it would appeal to any NFL fan. A lot of great stories about that draft.
Of Miracles and Men. The Miracle on Ice game told from the Soviet perspective. One of the series best.

OJ Made in America debuts in June on ABC, and will be a 5-part series examining OJ Simpson beyond just the trial. A bunch of people who have gotten to see it already (Chuck Klostermann is one that comes to mind) have said it is the best Sports Doc ESPN has ever made.

I watched "Fantastic Lies" last night and it was good. I didn't know a lot of the details of that one before watching it. It was nice seeing what appeared to be the correct outcome in that documentary after recently watching the Netflix Original "Making a Murderer".

I've always thought this would be the perfect platform for the Estes story.

Another good story for the 30 for 30 series would be "The Black 14" about the African Americans kicked off the team and out of school at Wyoming for wanting to wear black armbands in the game against BYU in 1969 in protest of the priesthood ban on blacks.

Another 30 for 30 short that I enjoyed was The Great Trade Robbery. It's about how Jimmy Johnson absolutely took the Vikings when then Cowboys traded them Herschel Walker. Johnson tells exactly how it went. I really enjoy hearing about front office stuff like this.

That is a good one. That was what I loved about Elway to Marino. A bunch of agents, GMs, and players giving a candid account of the 1983 draft. Really interesting stuff.
