Nerds and historians: Has this ever happened before?

Texas Southern started 0-13 last year and made it in cause of winning their league. It's fairly common for the SWAC and MEAC teams to have poor records in OOC play, then get in cause someone has to win those leagues.

I also noticed that Prairie View A&M is in a similar situation: they had a 1-11 start with a #1 seed in the SWAC. It’s a fascinating existence.

The SWAC isn't a very good league, combined with their ooc is loaded with challenging road games. Arkansas Pine Bluff made the tournament after starting 0-11 a few years ago. All 11 of those games were on the road and most were against P5 opponents.

It's a tough life playing the OOC schedules that they do all in an effort to take a payday to keep their programs afloat.
