Nice season, Sindri Gudmundsson

Post by OKAggie » May 29th, 2019, 7:35 am

Aggie javelin thrower Sindri Gudmundsson had quite a season so far. He won his event at the MWC championships, then won it again at the NCAA West Preliminaries to qualify for nationals.

Total number of throws on the season: two.

He had been rehabbing an injury and didn't compete in any regular season meets. His first throw of the season was at the conference meet, where his 241' 9" was enough to win and qualify for the west prelims.

He then threw 241' 9" again on his first throw of the prelims to win the event and qualify for nationals.

Shout out to Brenn Flint, as well as a number of other departing seniors. Brenn didn't end the season the way she wanted to, but over her career she set the USU record for women's shot-put, winning the event in the MWC Meet.

He took 3rd at nationals last year but he'll have to contend with the crazy javelin throwers from Miss St. Their entire team is insane. They have one guy, Anderson Peters from Granada, that throws 80-85 meters every throw. Sindri has thrown over 80 a couple of times in his career so hopefully he heals up and can contend for a spot on the podium again.
