Utah Hockey
Re: Utah Hockey
I remember going to several Golden Eagles games and I would love this. Even if we can't use Golden in the name due to Vegas. The Eagles with a Green and Gold color scheme would rock.

Re: Utah Hockey
Just keep them as the coyotes. Kind of like the sound of the Utah Yotes.

Re: Utah Hockey
They can't. Several articles have more detailed explanations, but the idea is that the Arizona owner is retaining rights to the name and they will be an expansion team if they can find a home in Arizona within the next 5 years.

Re: Utah Hockey
Doubt the league would allow it with the Golden Knights being the closest team to us.

Something that likely helped grease the wheels is the fact that David Blitzer (owner of the Jersey Devils) is on the NHL Executive Board and is also co-owners of RSL with none other than Ryan Smith.

Just call them the Eagles, then.

Re: Utah Hockey
I think the name has to be Utah and not Salt Lake as a condition of the funding the legislature authorized.
I like Utah Black Diamonds of the names I have heard.

I like the "Utah Sidehill Codgers."
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

It looks like someone who’s spent too much time living in Utah county. Except our beloved provoaggie who has somehow found the fountain of youth

Naw. They live up in the hills around Bear Lake Valley. My dad told me about chasing the males (short right legs/long left legs), but never the females (long right legs/short left legs), because they're so vicious.crazywookie wrote: ↑April 15th, 2024, 7:18 pmIt looks like someone who’s spent too much time living in Utah county. Re: Utah Hockey
Utah Phoenix actually makes some sense because the name Utah literally means People of the Sun or something like that. How about the Utah Cut Throats (after the trout). The frozen fish LOL.

Re: Utah Hockey
I like both, but Phoenix seems truly jerky after pulling the team from them.
Cutthroat is too soon after that guy died on the ice awhile back from having his neck slashed with a skate.
Other than that, I live both

I like Utah Trappers. I also wouldn't hate it if Smith bought the Grizzlies name from the minor league team.

With homage to the Utah ski industry i think a name of "Utah Black Diamonds" would be a pretty cool name. Would be nice to have something unique.
