Idea for our new WBB coach...

Find some former high school players at USU, pay them $20 an hour and go for it. They can even have a student coach. It certainly couldn't hurt. The US women's soccer team has done it with 14 year old boy teams, so there is a lot of precedent for women's teams.

The Canadian women's Olympic hockey team plays U18 boys to get ready. It definitely happens.

I’m not going to give outkick any clicks, so forgive me for just assuming what the article is saying, but if it’s saying they practice against current students who played ball in high school, they already do that. They have tryouts and everything.

It does and this was the first I ever heard we do that. How has it been received?

I reported on the WBB team during the 2018-19 season and I talked with Finkbeiner about it. He said it's a pretty standard practice. They would scout guys playing at the ARC and invite them come play against the team. Whether or not the women like it, it prepares them to play against a stronger, more physical opponent.

One of my roommates at USU did that. This was back in 2011? So they’ve done it for a while.

At least 95% of women’s team sin America do this and have for years. It’s nothing revolutionary.

Not hard to see the type of picture that sh*tshow Outkick is trying to paint here.

I assume it’s actually not that easy to do. You have to be good enough to be competent and run the opponents offense and defense but it’s probably not very helpful to be so good that the women can’t actually run theirs. Playing down while still pushing the women to play better doesn’t seem easy.

From my understanding the appeal for dudes to join the practice squad and help out diminished significantly during the Ard years (due to how she treated them). Both the quantity and quality of volunteers suffered.

Ard was a big believer in equality. She made dang sure that everyone hated her, not just her own players.

That sounds even worse than the reports of how she treated the players. You can understand the intentions of a coach showing tough love for the players when they don't play or practice well (and I'm certainly not defending everything about the way Ard treated the players) but you certainly don't bite the hand that feeds you, by mistreating the guys who do as much for your program as practice squad players do.

One of my friends is a guy who played in the practice squad. That’s how I learned we had trouble with Ard after the first year. He said that to outsiders Ard came across and positive and all about improvement but she was actually a terrible person who couldn’t treat anyone with respect.

Ard presented well to a lot of people, only until you got to know her or work closely with her did you get to see her true colors. Classic narcissist..
