Re: New offer to Jamarcus Weatherspoon
All these guard/wing offers really make me think the plan is to have Jalen play the stretch 4. Not sure how I feel about that.

If that is the case and the rumors are true, we can count on Jalen being the next one gone.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:All these guard/wing offers really make me think the plan is to have Jalen play the stretch 4. Not sure how I feel about that.

Which I don't understand. He is undersized. Many MW teams saw this and took advantage of his weight disadvantage.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:All these guard/wing offers really make me think the plan is to have Jalen play the stretch 4. Not sure how I feel about that.

My informant (source level 12) says that he and Jojo are looking at taking up ice dancing together.aggies22 wrote:If that is the case and the rumors are true, we can count on Jalen being the next one gone.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:All these guard/wing offers really make me think the plan is to have Jalen play the stretch 4. Re: New offer to Jamarcus Weatherspoon
If he is to be a 4 then he should redshirt next year and eat all the Ker-wiches he can eat. I can't imagine he'll be strong enough and filled out enough to compete any better next year. The problem is it sounds like he doesn't want to play the 4.providencealum wrote:Which I don't understand. He is undersized. So it looks like we're going to be playing small-ball with a bunch of 6'0-6'4 guards that were coveted by the WAC and SWAC?
I don't understand this at all. I would say I trust the coaches, but I don't know that I do after the last few years of recruiting.

I don't understand it either, particularly with Stone leaving. We just don't have enough height to go up against some of the better teams inside. It is going to be a bigger issue than athleticism.ineptimusprime wrote:So it looks like we're going to be playing small-ball with a bunch of 6'0-6'4 guards that were coveted by the WAC and SWAC?

Unless he is a dynamic gamechanger that is believed to be able to score on anyone in the MW, he is not the type of player we should be recruiting right now. We have others like him, many that are projected to be better.

Yep. I realize recruiting is an inexact science, but both Darius Perkins and Chris Smith had offers from bigger schools than this one. I really just don't understand this offer, no offense at all to the kid, maybe he is a really good player.diehardaggiefan wrote:Unless he is a dynamic gamechanger that is believed to be able to score on anyone in the MW, he is not the type of player we should be recruiting right now. Jamarcus Weatherspoon... Sounds like he came straight out of a Key and Peele skit.

True. However, with the recent information we've been given today, I'm just hoping we have enough players to field a team.El Chapin wrote:Once again, competing with lesser conferences for recruits. This doesn't fix our problem.

It sounds like we'll need players of all shapes and sizes.USUBlue wrote:Every player we've lost has been 6-7 or bigger; more recruiting that doesn't fit needs and isn't at the MWC level.

Re: New offer to Jamarcus Weatherspoon
I'm 6'4" 200 lbs and I usually feel at a disadvantage weight-wise to people playing in my church league. I don't want basketball players at the division 1 school I root for to be my height but 20 lbs lighter. Hopefully Jamarcus is talented enough that he'll be able to contribute but I don't like hearing "6'4" 180 lbs."
