When did you start posting ...
When did you start posting ...
on this or a predecessor board? And, if you don't mind sharing, what other screen names have you used in the past? I raise this topic because I was thinking the other day about what we Aggie fans would do without this forum, and then realized that the message boards have now been around so long that many posters don't know anything else.
I was first introduced to the Aggie message boards back in 1998 at a Big Blue Club luncheon in Salt Lake City by a poster formerly known at TheToad. I remember being intrigued by the existence of the message board and that, during those first few years, there was a relatively large amount of information leaked onto the prior site from the athletics department.
I have gone by "dogie" without interruption for 16 years now. I am #45 among the most frequent posters: memberlist.php?first_char=&mode=&sk=d&sd=d#memberlist.
Those with better memories than mine might be able to remind me (and others) of the history of the message boards and their names as they came and went. I think the first one was sponsored by the Ogden Standard Examiner, but that was before I was around.

I started pretty early on this board. Maybe the first day it was public. I used my last name on the scout board. Posted there for only 2 or 3 years.

Started on trueaggies.com thanks to Craig Peterson who was also one of my commerce teachers. Same screen name since about 2002 or so.

Started on the scout board. I can't remember how long ago. I know I read the boards for a few years before I ever posted. I remember my first post was about Tyler Newbold his freshman year. What year was that?

I started at the old scout board in about 2008, I think. As for old names, I was El Matatan originally, but switched it after a while.

AggieFirefighter told me about the Scout board in 2008 or 2009 and I signed up there under the name jasonsplace (left over username from when I built my first website at 13). I've been ProvoAggie since moving over here.

Started lurking on scout in the mid 2000s. Don't remember when I started posting. Started here the day the boys put it up. Been GeoAg on both boards.

Re: When did you start posting ...
I found the Scout board in fall of 2002. Back then Scout articles were occasionally featured on YAHOO! Sports, and there was a USU Scout User named Vadryn who wrote an article which hit the Y! USU Basketball page. I happened to click link under the byline to the original article on Scout, and then found the MB. I read the Scout board off-and-on for a couple months before registering on 10 Jan 2003. I think in 2006, I was asked by AggieSports to take over the Pick'em games, and as a result, became a partial moderator (I think I only had access to lock and pin threads over there).
Aglicious and ProvoAg approached me shortly before bringing this board live and asked me to be a Moderator, so I joined here right away.
I've seen too many of the great and level-headed users from my early days leave, who helped respark my Aggie ties - some due to life changes and some due to the change in the culture here over the years. I do wonder how big of an Aggie fan I'd be right now, if it weren't for these boards. Until about 2009, it was so hard to get anything meaningful about the Aggies from anywhere but here - so I probably would have fallen away over the decade from 1999 when I moved to the Midwest.

Stated at Trueaggies.com circa 2001 under the name whatsmyname. I had good insider info back then and broke the news that Spencer Nelson tore his acl. Nobody believed me because they didn't know me. Turns out a couple days later it was announced Spencer tore his acl.

I was introduced initially to the scout board by my uncle who was a regular reader but who never posted. Living in Utah county, the board heightened my fandom greatly and at some point in the mid 2000s, I started posting under this same handle. I joined here right as it started up.

1997 I'm pretty sure. With TrueAggie, USUBlue, the Duke, Signalwar, and a bunch of other people who'll I'll forget at the moment. That and a few other pioneers of the early internet age. I think before the original TrueAggies.com it was "your the coach" with BroncoBob or something [EDIT - found the link http://utahstate.scout.com/story/94276- ... e-internet...] I think there is a history of this on the Olde' UStateAgs.com website (now with a different name, just google it). BTW I was the original ProvoAggie but I think I went by ProvoAg instead. Geeze I'm old It was a Troutputz story that inspired me to adopt the name ViAggie. to Sven fo sho!

Re: When did you start posting ...
I don't go back to the Standard board -- the first one I remember is the old TrueAggies.com, but I've been posting there and here as OKAggie for at least ten years and probably longer.
My re-connection with the Aggie world came in an old AOL USU fans group, back in the mid '90s. I don't remember much of who was on there, with the exception of a guy by the handle of DunnRon (who now posts here under a different handle, but his distinctive names for our rivals live on).
I'm like AGinNEIowa: these boards have revived my Aggie soul. Thanks to ProvoAggie and Aglicious for this board and your dedication to the Aggie Nation (especially us in the diaspora).

Officially joined Scout on 8/11/2006, though I read it a bit prior to that, and then migrated to USUFans on 11/3/2010, same name the whole time.

Re: When did you start posting ...
I started reading the Scout board in 2003 when I saw a link in the comments section of an ESPN article. I think I started posting in 2004 as TulsAGGIE. I came over here as soon as it started, as I thought it was much better than the scout board for a while. There had been an effort for a while to move boards, but none was successful until this one.

Re: When did you start posting ...
TrueAggie (or is it Aggies Forever) recruited me to the Standard.net board from the aol board, which I had joined about 93-94 range. I joined Standard.net as USU78 and am still the same old curmudgeonly jerk I always was, but with a twinkle.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: When did you start posting ...
I heard about the board from 3rdGenAggie and NAggsty Butler back in 2010 and would just lurk around. Shortly after the Auburn game in 2011 I joined with my wildly uncreative handle, not knowing I wouldn't be able to change it. I still don't post a ton, but I follow the board very closely.
My avatar comes from a time when I had a roommate that was an equipment manager who let me wear one of the new helmets as he was finishing up some laundry in the locker room. I probably posted more back then because I felt like I might have somewhat of insider info. Though I'm still friends with my old roommate he's still doing the equipment managing thing, I try not to be too annoying asking him about the team. I've been trying to put my two cents out more recently though.

Re: When did you start posting ...
I go back to 1996-97. I know at one point I was on the standard.net board, but cannot remember which board came first. You're the coach was also in there at one point. I posted under the name Sword S Sharp. Don't ask me how I came up with that name, all I remember is that my ex-wife and I were joking around about something and somehow that phrase came up.
Re: When did you start posting ...
I started on the scout board probably late 2005 early 2006 as good2BAggie after a brief lurking period. I was introduced by a friend who would email print screens of recruiting updates from the scout board to himself so he could read them at work. He always said you've got to take these opinions with a grain of salt, and never divulged his handle to me. I'm not sure he ever even posted. I moved here right when it started.

Re: When did you start posting ...
I am very much a noob. Joined his board halfway through last season, barely more than 100 posts... I didn't follow Aggie athletics for most of my life due to growing up in Oklahoma and the brainwashing by my zoobie parents Fortunately I had my 'Alma the Younger' moment and converted to being a diehard Aggie fan during the 2012 season after my mission and was introduced to this site by smileyface. Looking forward to many, many years of Aggie fandom

Re: When did you start posting ...
I started posting on TrueAggies.com first under the name TrueAg and then moved to the UStateAgs.com/Scout site afterward under the same name. I kept the TrueAg name for the first couple of years there and then on the date in 2004 as seen under my name to the right I decided to ditch the name and registered a new account under the name Aglicious. I still used my TrueAg account once in a while as a sockpuppet; mostly when I went into tirades about RRGinSLC.
In 2007 I started BigBlueChat.com (pretty funny to now look at on the wayback machine), where I hosted live chat for game days and may or may not have streamed games. In 2009, when Scout started to more or less ignore us and the admins were having issues gaining control over many of the features I started looking into building an independent Aggie fan site that was more comprehensive than BigBlueChat. I bought the USUFans.com domain and spent the last part of 2009 and half of 2010 working with the Scout admins/moderators on the layout, menu items, and general idea for this site in preparation and hopes of leading a mass exodus from that place.
In the summer of 2010, a relatively new Scout member named jasonsplace (ProvoAggie) developed and released a site named USUBlue.com. It contained a news page and sweet event schedule. It just so happened that the idea for the USUFans front page was to pull news feeds in a similar fashion and the event schedule was far better and more developed than anything we had thought about including. One phone call to ProvoAggie and BAM...Aggasm! (yes, your nickel for royalty fees is in the mail BBD). After deciding on a message forum format, dissolving previous sites, killing Scout, and with ProvoAggie's mad PHP skills this site was finally completed. On November 2nd, 2010 this mash-up went live to the chagrin of a few but the overwhelming support of the majority of members. I would also add that this place would not have existed if it weren't for the support from the previous admins and moderators, namely ProvoAg/SoCalAggie/ViAggie & AggieSports, who endorsed the move and supported the idea from the start even though they didn't have to.
