Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
In game against Utah. Punched Utah's PG in the neck from behind while he was looking up for a rebound. Was ejected.
This behavior is becoming very predictable from this specific team. Apparently in both major sports.

Emery with the roundhouse
Watch the sports highlights tonight. Emery ejected and suspended a game for one of the most stupid and blatant fouls you will see. Defines stupid at a new level.

Re: Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
What an embarrassment to his school, teammates, and himself. That's about as sucker punch as you will ever see in live action. What are these guys thinking when they do stuff like this? Do they have some sort of "Roid Rage" problem down there? It would go nicely with their prescription pill problems they already have.
It's up on ESPN as well. Crowd reaction is the best. Watching the little whiny (I can't express myself without swearing) K. Davis try to wave off the crowd is hilarious too.

Re: Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
I realize you're being sarcastic, but IIRC, it is an NCAA rule that a player be suspended after a Flagrant 2. That's the only reason anything will happen. byu will not be suspending him of their own accord. I expect he will miss the Weber game and be back for our game. Only reason that changes is if the WCC decides to give him two games, which I doubt.brownjeans wrote:So will Emery be suspended?

He will sit the Weber game and be greeted with a standing ovation when he enters our game.

Re: Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
From what I've been able to find it used to be an automatic suspension but no longer is. It's no up to the team and conference. That being said, Rose said after the game that he expects Emery to miss more than just this game.3rdGenAggie wrote:I realize you're being sarcastic, but IIRC, it is an NCAA rule that a player be suspended after a Flagrant 2. I love it how Emery is too sick for a mission but is perfectly fine playing D1 basketball.

No. I've seen it everywhere you have a bunch of dudes that buddy around together and never get laid. I call it Black Rabbit Syndrome. My little sister used to have a big black rabbit. Female. It was the meanest SOB to ever draw breath. Anyhow, it got so mean that my parents had to give it to a farmer. Word is, that rabbit mated for three solid days after it got to the farm and became the most docile lap-rabbit to ever draw breath. Re: Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
I saw the SBNation link to this situation earlier this morning. I called my wife over to "look at this clip" - arranged the screen so only the video was in view, none of the article. Immediate response was "Is that byu"?
How sad that upon seeing a punch, her response was that
Even worse that it's true.

Re: Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
I'm so glad his feet miraculously healed. It also helps he is no longer simply walking around on them on his mission, playing D1 basketball is obviously much easier on them.

Not sure what you mean by this. Emery came home, had 2 ribs and cartalidge removed around his lungs, then returned and finished his mission....2004AG wrote:I love it how Emery is too sick for a mission but is perfectly fine playing D1 basketball.

Re: Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
I love how Kyle Davis gives the Utah bench the feminine wave on the clip. I'm sure Emery just wanted to have an "impact" on that poor Ute player's life.Aglicious wrote:What an embarrassment to his school, teammates, and himself. Admittedly I had to look it up last night when they mentioned that he wore the long sleeves for medical reasons.2004AG wrote:I stand corrected. I guess weak and feeble arms is a medical issue that requires covering with long sleeves.
If only the people at Walmart would start covering themselves for medical issues too.

I think he actually came home right after that again in January due to complications in one of the arms.

Also compression sleeves only work if they are tight. You need more meat on your bones for them to work right.

He also returned home again a couple months later for medical reasons and didn't go back out. He was back on the court within a couple of days of being home though.2004AG wrote:I stand corrected. I don't necessarily care either, it just amazes me that they are too sick for a mission but have no problem playing major college basketball but I'm not a doctor so what do I know.ratofallaggies wrote:welp, now I stand corrected. I don't really care if he finished his mission or not though.

Re: Nick Emery ejected for punch to the neck
Actually, he did end up coming home early for something called thoracic outlet syndrome. Ironically, this condition affects the neck, shoulder, arm, and fingers and should, theoretically, hinder activities such as basketball or, let's say, boxing.ratofallaggies wrote:Admittedly I had to look it up last night when they mentioned that he wore the long sleeves for medical reasons.2004AG wrote:I stand corrected.
