I thought we still had three spots: Who's been hired recently (that's not on the list in the sticky thread)?ratofallaggies wrote:They've actually now made all the final hires.. staff is now complete

Re: Something again....
Waqa and Maile are going to have to do some heavy lifting to keep the poly pipeline going. Hopefully with new leadership from the coaches and the players we can win the conference championship. You can never tell the truth from a players tweets, but it does sound like a concentrated effort to work harder this off-season.

Sorry, an old TV show, "Chico and The Man". It was supposed to be funny.GUS wrote:I've heard rumors that Chico is coming back. Sounds like they may be true. Who is "The Man?"

Not sure who Collins and Tahi are. And what position are each of them covering?

Stacy Collins is the new special teams coach. Chico will be coaching TEs and Tahi will coach RBs.BigBlueDart wrote:Not sure who Collins and Tahi are. And what position are each of them covering?

Re: Something again....
Do you guys know where all these guys's experience is in recruiting? Will Collins be scouring South Dakota for recruits? Does Chico still have Florida Connections? Do you think Farmer can get us into Louisiana?

Re: Something again....
Was Tahi ever gone? I remember him making a stink about BYU not giving him his degree last year which was going to potentially mess up his coaching career but his USU bio says he is finishing up his degree at USU.
I would guess this means that this is now complete and he can move forward.

Re: Something again....
It's probably written somewhere here and I haven't seen it, but does anyone know is Chuckie is sticking around as a graduate coach?

Re: Something again....
Collins will likely recruit the pacific northwest as he has primarily spent his coaching career in oregon and Washington.BustaMcNutt wrote:Do you guys know where all these guys's experience is in recruiting? Re: Something again....
Tahi is a solid hire. Has NFL experience as well and a good fit at USU. I thought either Tahi or David would be great hires given their Poly and RB background. Solid hire and will probably help our recruiting against BYU since he played there and can highlight why players might fit better at USU vs BYU.

I wonder where that info on Scout came from.... Tahi is going to be a GA.GUS wrote:So Tahi is not mentioned in that article. Does that mean he was not hired?

Chico has been hanging out in Denton, TX (an hour north of Dallas) since 2010 and was at South Florida in Tampa before that.BustaMcNutt wrote:Do you guys know where all these guys's experience is in recruiting? Maybe it was added afterward , but Tahi is mentioned toward the end and says he will essentially be the RB coach.GUS wrote:So Tahi is not mentioned in that article. Does that mean he was not hired?

Re: Something again....
North Texas fired their head coach last year. Chico was the interim head coach.TrueAG wrote:Seems like some really good pick ups. Was Chico out of a job?
I like Chico. He was the OC at Snow College years ago when I went there. He ran a really good offense. Had mixed success after that at South Florida, Arizona and North Texas. He could play a mentor role for the new OC's.

Re: Something again....
Seriously. Interesting how Chico has been mentioned as a possible OC replacement here over the past several seasons and now we finally do bring him in and he's the TE's coach. Seems pretty crazy with all his experience, but I'm not complaining!TrueAG wrote:Seems like some really good pick ups. Was Chico out of a job?

Re: Something again....
It seems weird with his experience that he wouldn't be coaching the qb's instead of Luke. If my count is correct we have essentially 5 offensive coordinators on staff. The Wells brothers, Bouknight, farmer, and Chico. With all that experience you would think the offense should move in the right direction right?

Re: Something again....
Chico will have a lot of input into our offense. His official position as TE coach belies the fact that he will be highly involved in offense structure
He also brings great recruiting links to usu. I can't believe he will be here
Thank and shout out to the donor who pledged help for his salary. Wow.
I mean WOW!!
Now... Coach wells has put play calling on himself. Gutsy move
Then he accepts responsibility for good and bad. But now he has a great offensive coach in Chico
To assist in decisions. Gents. I love it!
