Re: What if every Aggie player in the NFL
I'd dump Matt Austin for Kevin Curtis.
Micah Knorr actually spent a few years punting for the Cowboys.
As much as I like Willie D, with him not being on an active roster, I'd put Cornell Green there.

He said past or present. I would take Cooley over DJ.aggieaz wrote:D.J. Tialavea (TE) is still on a practice squad so technically he is in the NFL.jpswensen wrote:Chris Cooley at TE

The question was who would you pick to fill the gaps, not replace the current ones in the NFL.jpswensen wrote:He said past or present. I would take Cooley over DJ.aggieaz wrote:D.J. Tialavea (TE) is still on a practice squad so technically he is in the NFL.jpswensen wrote:Chris Cooley at TE

Ah, I misunderstood. I interpreted gaps as best player who had ever played in the NFL.aggieaz wrote:The question was who would you pick to fill the gaps, not replace the current ones in the NFL.jpswensen wrote:He said past or present. While I am no where near old enough to have seen him play, I believe Cornell had the most distinguished NFL career at cornerback for a former Aggie (even though he played hoops at USU).aggieaz wrote:Can you remind this young aggie (referring to myself) who is Cornell Green?aggies22 wrote:I'd dump Matt Austin for Kevin Curtis.

Re: What if every Aggie player in the NFL
That is impressive, especially considering he didn't play football in college and was drafted to NBA the same year. It's cool he still holds the rebounding record at USU. Thanks for pointing him out.aggies22 wrote:While I am no where near old enough to have seen him play, I believe Cornell had the most distinguished NFL career at cornerback for a former Aggie (even though he played hoops at USU).aggieaz wrote:Can you remind this young aggie (referring to myself) who is Cornell Green?aggies22 wrote:I'd dump Matt Austin for Kevin Curtis.

I am too young to know the differences between those two players other than stats. Who would be the deal breaker and why?cval wrote:Rulon Jones/Greg Kragun... might be a tossup there.

Re: What if every Aggie player in the NFL
Al Smith - Linebacker for the Houston Oilers. All pro and two time pro bowler. Late 80's early 90's
Patrick Allen - Corner for the Houston Oilers for 7 years. I think started most of those years. mid-late 80's

Re: What if every Aggie player in the NFL
In my recollection Rulon Jones was the better player, but when he fell off he fell big. Went from great to nothing in a year or two. Kragun was not as good overall, but seemed to come up big from time to time.aggieaz wrote:I am too young to know the differences between those two players other than stats. Long time ago though. A bit fuzzy.

Re: What if every Aggie player in the NFL
I'd probably take Eric Hipple as QB or Calvillo. Though Calvillo had perhaps the best CFL career ever for a QB, Hipple played in the NFL for many years with the Lions.
Definitely Curtis over Austin as a WR.
Anybody want Ade Jimoh as CB? Nah, me neither.
