I don't think Mark Fox to CSU is actually going to happen due to the rumored way his contract his structured. It merely seems to be posturing.

Also regarding Penny Hardaway and Memphis. I don't know if he can coach, but what a great hire for them. Penny was a legend for Memphis and I bet he's an incredible recruiter.

With only high school and AAU coaching under his belt, Memphis is taking a HUGE risk on Penny. However, the real recruiter is this guy.

Charlotte is hiring UVA assistant Ron Sanchez, so another position filled.

It’s a HUGE advantage in recruiting to have someone who is best known for having a marionette in his image voiced by Chris Rock as your coach.

It is a very huge risk and one that I find surprising. He must be the favorite son.

Penny Hardaway supposedly is going to help them land 4 and 5 star local talent which had been leaving the state. Penny coached Memphis East which has the top ranked player in the 2019 recruiting class James Wiseman as well as a few other highly ranked players. This was a move for local talent and the guys specifically in the 2019 class that Penny coached. We'll see if it works long term, but it makes sense. I like Tubby and think he is a good coach, but he is not a good recruiter. Even at a school like Kentucky, you compare the players they were getting then vs the players Calipari gets and it isn't close.

I saw a few reports that he had reached out to Larry Brown to be his assistant and that Brown had shown some interest. Whether or not that leads to anything is another story

It’s looking more and more like CSU is going to hire Craig Smith from South Dakota. If this happens, that would be a great hire for them. Where does that leave Mark Fox? I think Utah State can find someone better.

I thought he was best known for being voted as a starter for the All Star Game despite only playing a handful of games ... on an annual basis.

The guy is 79 and 87 as a HC. Would you rather?
Would you rather a guy with no head coaching experience or a head coach with a losing record?

He was an assistant under their former coach (Miles) for 6 years. I'm guessing that is big part of why they are willing to select him, but yes, I agree, it seems like a big risk.

I would rather have a guy with winning Head Coach experience. The two "rathers" you mention are both risky.

Aint gonna happen. He'll want too much money. He wanted 1.7 out of CSU. They sent him packing. Why would he come to us and ask for less?

Always interesting how internet rumors/speculation become facts. We don't know how the conversation with CSU went, nor do we know what has been said between He and Hartwell.

We don't know if he turned down CSU over money... That appears to be pure speculation. If that is true, it will be a short discussion, and would probably not even occur.

With CSU out, Fox loses some bargaining power unless Pitt wants him. In that case, we couldn’t compete financially anyhow.

Why do people just assume CSU is a better program than us? We're better in every aspect. A legendary coach quit them to come to us, we have better facilities and better fans. Only thing CSU has on us may be Fort Collins, but that's only if you like that kind of place.

$$$$ They have more money. They also have some stability and Colorado does not looking down their nose at them like Utah does to USU.

Right! It's like I know a lady who saw Old Everett's Ghost at the Lyric Theater. She saw him. That's a fact.

It only becomes hearsay when I tell the story.

How do you know? Just because you don't know anything doesn't mean that nobody knows anything.
Linky Please.... to more than just someone's speculation.
No link, but a credible source. Not hearsay.
Do you know what hearsay means?
An out-of-court statement offered to prove the truth of the matter asserted.
