That's awesome! But what's the deal with the S?

Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
The block "A" points north to USU from my house in Bountiful.
The U State logos point East and West, and the "S" points South (in the Aggies sports font)
So you get A to the North, and U(State) - S - U(State) [or "USU"] on the other 3 directionals.
That's how I envisioned it anyway.

I favor legislation requiring this on all new construction.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

okay newhouse, you have really outdone yourself this time. It appears there are lights on the A, please tell me this thing lights up and turns blue.

Yes...the lights are there...I have "down" lights that light up the middle section with the glass, and the "A"s all have LEDs. I can light the A blue from anywhere that I have a Wifi connection. Woo hoo! My BYU neighbors, including my in-laws, are going to LOVE this!

Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
I've been working on this for 2 1/2 years, working with my wife and the architect. The beautiful thing is that they were all in favor! In fact, originally, the cupola was going to sit over the garage, but they wanted to move it to the front of the house so it was more visible!
There are too many trees in the front along the little creek we have, so the view is blocked a lot, but I am just freaking excited that the thing is up there and works!
Disclaimer...I did not build it...I sent a company photos of Old Main Tower and they attempted to replicate the top sections. It's close. I had the "A"s and the Weathervane built by a local company that does water/laser cutting. They tweaked and retweaked the artwork. The weathervane is probably a little too large, but I wanted the A and the UStates and Bull to really be visible.
Thanks for looking!

Can you share the name of the company who did it?newhouse9 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2018, 12:22 pmDisclaimer...I did not build it...I sent a company photos of Old Main Tower and they attempted to replicate the top sections. Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
Country Weathervanes built the Cupola.
www.saltcitywaterjet.com, also know as Laroser, did the weathervane and the "A"s.
Also, you can do the lighting yourself; I am doing permanent LED holiday lighting on our new house (no more ladders for me!...thank you Wife!) and I had them work this lighting solution up. So these are heavy-duty programmable LEDs, not that lighter-duty Amazon tape lights. I went with TrimLight (trimlight.net) after getting multiple bids.
All have been awesome to work with, and really excited about the project.

Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
Just let me know...hoping to be in by Thanksgiving or shortly thereafter. We actually live on the property in a "tiny house" attached to my shop we built last summer.
I'll be making an Old Main Tower replica mailbox as soon as I get all the house projects done...I need more long weekend!

I was planning to do this one, too! Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
The mailbox? Or the Cupola, or both? I'm happy to share...I don't have the mailbox drawn up yet. I'll share whatever of the others that I can, if there are no copyright issues...I mostly just have drawings of the cupola and weathervane.
I'll work on the mailbox soon. I just have to get the front door finished (it's a bugger...96" x 42"), build the dining table, the shelves for the living room, and the two fireplace mantles. I have some other stuff too...just finished the shutters and have to get those mounted fairly soon. So I'm not sure when I'll get to the mailbox, but I'll get there!

Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
Question for this group. If USU sold small "A" tower replicas that turn blue and could be placed in front of a window. Would you turn it on after the Aggies won so everyone who drove by could see a blue light "A" when they passed your house?
The thought in mind is the "leg" lamp on The Christmas Story, but a small blue "A" instead.

Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
I absolutely would. I even know where I would place it.
I also would love to have one of those Cupolas. That is really neat, and I am jealous.

Not sure if this was posted TIC or not, but this has been in the works since 2015:aggieaz wrote: ↑September 27th, 2018, 1:32 pmQuestion for this group. Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
It would be really awesome if the University had some sort of signal people could sync up their mini A's to the internet and have them all turn blue when they turn the one in Logan blue.

Re: My New Cupola...Go Aggies
I was thinking of the mailbox. I haven't been in too much of a rush to get it done just yet, myself, just because I've had other priorities for time and money, but the house we moved into has ducks painted on the mailbox, and I'm just not really a duck guy, I guess. I could just replace it, but I've had this half-formed idea of an Old Main styled mailbox, so I've been holding out until I can make that project a reality.newhouse9 wrote: ↑September 27th, 2018, 1:08 pmThe mailbox?
