We won’t even have a chance of being ranked until 2 more weeks. If we win @wyoming and then home against New Mexico, then maybe. I would bet have to win the following week @Hawaii for it to happen though.

It’s easy to say this with hindsight and looking st our team now, but I wish we played a lower level P5 team with that NMSU game instead of NMSU. Not having a P5 win is going to continually hurt us. Boise losing to OSU really hurt the conference too.

So, they moved up one spot in the USA Today poll to #32, and tripled their vote count to 33. Michigan State and Duke moved ahead of them, and the Aggies passed up Utah, Auburn and TCU.

Coaches poll is dumb anyway. Texas jumped more after beating Baylor than they did after beating OU.

They should have taken the opportunity to play a 13th game due to the road game at Hawaii. That 13th game would have been a road game this year. But, it could have been part or a 2-for-1 arrangement with a lower level P5 team, which is something the Aggies could easily do during each four-year MWC scheduling cycle (which takes the Aggies once to Hawaii). I outlined this in detail a couple of months ago, and I still think they should do it in the future. In effect, USU could schedule a 2-for-1 with a lower level P5 team (maybe Arizona State or Kansas) rather than a home-and-home with, for example, NMSU.

That’ll be awesome and a nice surprise if USU cracks the AP top 25, but my post was referencing the coaches poll. Which is what was being discussed.

This is the coaches poll. AP is a different poll, maybe they know something we don't at this point?

Hopefully confirms that the Colombi Family is still all in regardless of if accurate or not.

Brett McMurphy tweeted his ballot, which has USU #24. My guess is they saw that and mistook it for the final poll.

Yeah, the AP Poll has not been released. It will be in about 10 minutes. That is an ill-informed tweet.

Looks like the AP launched a new website today and they are now late with the new poll.

USU got 38 votes in the AP. Not enough to be ranked but getting closer.

We have three MW teams right on the edge of breaking the top 25 with Hawaii and Boise not too far out. It appears that this is a pretty strong MW conference this year. Go Aggies!

Recommend all Aggies go to the link above and up-vote all the guys who voted for us. Feel free to down-vote the fools who didn't.

The last time we did that, the coaches said "never again". The guys need that bye week in the middle of the season to get healthy.

They can still have a bye week with a 13-game schedule by playing the first game on “week 0” before most of the rest of the country begins playing.

Here are some selected Wilson ratings for the past week for the MWC and a few other teams of local interest. (See: https://wilson.engr.wisc.edu/perform/ for an explanation of the rating system.)

We are doing quite well, this list shows our rating will still increase (if we keep winning) but not by huge amounts as every game we have left is against an opponent rated lower than we are. The exceptions would be the MWC Championship game, and possibly our bowl game.

SDSU 887
Utah 874
Fresno State 835
Utah State 833
BYU 827
Boise State 816
Hawaii 792
Nevada 746
Weber 744
Wyoming 743
CSU 741
Air Force 739
New Mexico 727
NMSU 695
UNLV 670
SJSU 663

FWIW, a couple national college football guys think we should be ranked. I'll take all the positive coverage we can get:
