I would completely agree with that article if had been written last week. After the WYO showing I am in wait and see mode. Was our performance an anomaly or a trend? I sure hope it was an anomaly.

@ bwcrc, that is a valid point. Any good national press is awesome for the program.

And this is why next year we will get:
Good - more national television exposure.
Bad - more late games ending near midnight, and games on Thursday or Friday.

Very true, next year with our home schedule we will probably not see any 2:00 pm October/November games. They will more than likely be the 8:15 type. The results of being successful in the MW.

Wyoming is 10 YPG out of being a top 25 defense, and they have played some pretty potent offenses in WSU, Missouri, BSU, Fresno, and us. At this point, I choose to believe that they are just a really good defense.

Re: 8 teams you don't want to play right now
Not sure why it's been popular on here to downgrade this teams success this year because of one "off" game against a solid defense. Maybe increase the sample size to the other 6 wins?

(This is a very valid point. Wyoming was played some very good offenses and played them decently. They were tied or leading WSU going into the 4th qtr.]

They must have just guessed that we would beat Wyoming, since they point out that we beat Wyoming. Bold move!Aggie84025 wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2018, 1:30 pmI would completely agree with that article if had been written last week. After the WYO showing I am in wait and see mode. Re: 8 teams you don't want to play right now
There are 2 sides to that argument. I think it shows a solid, team that's finally learned how to win. The Aggies went on the road in a homecoming conference game and laid an egg on offense where they were supposed to be one of the best in the country (Held to less than 200 yards) and still won somewhat comfortably despite the opponent winning the field position battle and barely edging them on TOs.
No team that wins a lot of games doesn't have a letdown like this once or twice a year where they have to grind out an ugly win.

They are actually over 20 yards away from top 25 and before our game they were #63 in total defense, mid-90's in pass defense and mid-40s in rush defense. They were also #98 in total sacks.

Re: 8 teams you don't want to play right now
But that belies the fact that they had severely under performed to start the year and are loaded with experience that will be playing on Sundays. That doesn't excuse USU at all but the Wyoming D has been due to break out. I get nervous too because of the lapses Wells teams have had in division play the last few years but lets not jump the gun. I think the offense will respond and take it personal. At least I hope that's the case.Aglicious wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2018, 6:06 pmThey are actually over 20 yards away from top 25 and before our game they were #63 in total defense, mid-90's in pass defense and mid-40s in rush defense. They played Fresno Oct. 13 right before us , looks like their Bye comes before the Air Force Game.

Yeah how dare we win a road game despite not playing well. All teams have off nights. The fact that on our off night we were up 24-6 on the road and won says a lot about the team. We have a 6 game win streak. Until we lose, get used to USU football being praised.

Agreed. That Wyoming D is legit. Combine that with our O having an off night, and it's a miracle our boys came out of there with a win. I suspected after the BYu-p game that there would be some trap games somewhere on the schedule, despite how favored we were in all of them. It was definitely Wyoming looking back at it. Hopefully the Aggies are back to form this weekend. The New Mexico D may not be as good as Wyoming, but they're solid.
I watched some of the Purdue/Ohio State game, it was amazing to see. It looks like the frUtes may have finally turned a corner with their program as well. Their fans were freaking out after dropping a close game they should have won against WSU, but Washington State is proving to be really good. I kinda hope it doesn't happen, but playing Washington, WSU, or the frUtes in the Vegas Bowl would be an amazing game. We can hope right!?!
