Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
Maybe the replay official knows how pissed alot of Bay Area fans STILL are about another time a ruling on the field of fumble was changed to incomplete pass so they decided to make a similar ruling in their favor to make up for it. The only problem is that very few Raiders fans are also San Jose State fans.

Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
Yeah looks like the right call. His arm was moving. That's why the ball went forward.

Seriously.
The best view of it came when they revisited the play later and had a close up from the front view. Right after it we intercepted the ball and then scored on the next play.

Yeah. Seriously bad call. There wasn't forward motion of the arm; there was backward motion of his body. He hadn't initiated any forward motion when Rocquemore made contact. His arm snaps forward after the hit, but it is just relatively forward motion, as his body is accelerating backward and downward. Rapidly. That had to hurt.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑November 11th, 2018, 8:35 pmSeriously.

Speaking of which, Josh Love was hospitalized after the game. Any word on the nature or severity of the injury? I hope he's alright.

Probably internal bleeding from blunt force trauma. His coach should've pulled him out sooner.LKGates wrote: ↑November 11th, 2018, 10:03 pmYeah. Seriously bad call. Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
Definitely was a fumble. If anyone cares to see this view or upload it so everyone else can see it, feel free. Quarterback got hit while going back and then on top of that, you see him try to pull the ball back in and grab it with his left hand while going down.

Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
Although I don’t think that the call should have been reversed, I did like how quickly the replays were completed. I only remember a couple of replays but each one took less than 1 minute to complete.

Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
They were talking about this in the Cal USC game, NCAA telling replay officials not to slow it down too much because it takes context out. Slow motion, his arm goes forward along with the ball. Full speed you can tell it’s blunt for trauma.
As for Love, pretty sure the last hit that he stayed down for was a whiplash into the turf type head injury, saw the ambulance waiting for him.

Any idea how to get that link to work on my phone?Ag4life wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 10:51 amDefinitely was a fumble. Copy the link and “stream” (open a network stream) it on VLC. I’m sure there are other ways but that’s how I watched it on an iPhone. Safari and chrome didn’t work for some reason.hipsterdoofus21 wrote:Any idea how to get that link to work on my phone?Ag4life wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 10:51 amDefinitely was a fumble. Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
When I saw it on the first replay I thought they may call it back. I don’t actually know if his hand was moving forward as much, as he was hit in the body and his body moved back.
W/o seeing it again I don’t know- but I thought they may call it back prior to then doing it.

His hand was moving forward relative to his body. That is what counts in the end, I guess.

Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
By that token there are many fumbles that should be called forward laterals because these clown refs felt like any act of the arm moving forward was a passing attempt even though he was bring his left arm up to cradle it with both hands.BigBlueDart wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 7:14 pmHis hand was moving forward relative to his body. Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
Even in that situation, the tuck rule would apply if his throwing hand was moving toward his left hand, sohipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 8:26 pmBy that token there are many fumbles that should be called forward laterals because these clown refs felt like any act of the arm moving forward was a passing attempt even though he was bring his left arm up to cradle it with both hands.BigBlueDart wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 7:14 pmHis hand was moving forward relative to his body. Does the tuck rule exist in college?QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 9:40 pmEven in that situation, the tuck rule would apply if his throwing hand was moving toward his left hand, sohipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 8:26 pmBy that token there are many fumbles that should be called forward laterals because these clown refs felt like any act of the arm moving forward was a passing attempt even though he was bring his left arm up to cradle it with both hands.BigBlueDart wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 7:14 pmHis hand was moving forward relative to his body. Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
Yeah, that link makes it even WORSE. I revise my previous statement. Roquemore actually hits him a quartering shot from behind. The force of the impact actually throws the quarterback's right arm BACK after the impact, as his body is being driven slightly forward. There was ABSOLUTELY NO forward motion before, OR for a split second after, the impact.Ag4life wrote: ↑November 12th, 2018, 10:51 amDefinitely was a fumble. Eh. What the heck. We won anyway. I'm starting to sound like a whiney winner.

Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
What I love about this team is that throughout the season there have been many bad calls, but they shrug them off and win anyway. In years past a call like this costs us the game. Think about how many TDs this year were taken from us. No big deal, they just go score it again anyway.

Re: Why the fumble was changed to incomplete pass
Yup. The pass from his right hand to his left hand was clearly incomplete, as demonstrated in the picture.
However he did complete the passing of a small bowel movement in his shorts.
